Ever since I was eight years old I have been obsessed with crafting little dioramas and wargaming scenery from Lord of the Rings, mostly because of seeing the Wētā Workshop team working on the massive Bigatures made for the films. These bigatures were just incredible, 72 massive models of a bunch of locations from the 7metres Tall minas Tirith at 1/72 scale, to a fully watertight third scale Grey Havens Elven ship, they were an essential part of Peter Jackson’s gritty realist aesthetic for the films, and just a massive source of inspiration for a young crafter. It has been a long term fantasy of mine to be able to see these massive bigatures in the flesh, to walk among them and see the ultimate reference for making my own stupidly massive middle earth scenery, Today we take a massive step towards that fantasy.
A massive thank you to everyone at Wētā Workshop for inviting us back, it is just an insanely humbling experience to be able to continue to work with you guys, with a very special shout out to Louise and the unbelievably awesome Jules German for making this all possible.

Check out part four here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gITNepl6jJKFsLs I cannot put into words how exciting it is to be finally starting Helms Deep. Trying to build this board as a nine year old, and opening my first box of LOTR Warhammer I got for Christmas is like a core memory for me, and to be finally going on this journey with the support of Wētā Workshop and Elegoo is just incredible. The summer weather, the old Rohan metal models, the sound of the battle of Helms Deep as I'm working, this is just PEAK nostalgia, and I cannot wait to give you all a finished Helms Deep video for Christmas

I think it’s absolutely outstanding that Weta is aiding you in your quest to make every key part of middle earth. Honestly it’s great to see that you are using printers to make your builds easier, this way you can devote more time to painting and making the topography and ground cover look as realistic as possible. Keep up the great work, sir.

This is epic. My favourite outdoor location in the whole trilogy, I also tried to make it as a 12 year old when it came out, completely inspired by the model they made in White Dwarfs 276/277 (my first copies!). I made a flimsy cardboard version with not an ounce of realism, but the epic siege we played on it over a whole afternoon lives long in the memory. 20+ years later and with some actual hobby skills, mainly learned from your videos, I've been making my own miniature version of Weta's model. To see the master's version in full 28mm scale will be incredible!!

Viewers arent losing interest in your boards, theyre losing interest in the eternally unfinished state of them/ People want to see a cool board being made, not half of one being started and left unfinished!

I'm so excited to see natural scenery again. I started following you back in the buckleberry ferry days and loved the rock work and greenery so excited to see more of this side. I also am looking forward to the resin poor as I think it looks so good on a smaller scale rather than the flat stillness of the Osgiliath board. Very excited

This Tamiya putty texturing approach is great. I've seen it used a lot to make Tanks look cast iron. One thing that you might want to consider playing with (armour modellers do this) is a gentle sanding pass with a sanding sponge to knock back any bits that are sticking out too much.

Oh hell yesss!! Would absolutely love to see even a little bit of The Glittering Caves. Maybe even a battle report of Eomer and Gimli defending them like in the book 😀.
