That oil filtration and storage system is a game changer. I've always been convinced that deepfryers with any half decent thermostat are pretty much identical, but these features really set the t-fal ez- clean at a level above the competition

I had owned this deep fryer for several years. Used it a lot. I was satisfied with it until it began leaking oil all over the counter and onto the floor. I sent away for a new oil catchment believing that this was the issue. It was not. After spending the money and waiting for the replacement oil container to ship from France the T-Fal continued to leak oil onto the counter and the floor. The wife was not a happy camper and glared at me with that look every husband knows quite well. So, I ended up replacing it with a Cuisinart which as it turns out is identical to the fryer I had before the T-Fal. Only it used to be a Waring Pro. I did purchase a 4 qt. stainless container with a fine mesh strainer and lid to filter the used oil and together the cost was less than the T-Fal. The bonus with my new setup is I can put cheese cloth over the strainer and get exceptionally clean oil. Something not an option with the T-Fal unit.

So, I am a little slow. When you finish cooking with this system and you turn the dial to the automatic filtration sign. At this point, do you keep the unit plugged in and the temperature dial at 180, with the unit in the on position or do you shut it off completely? Will it filter the oil in the off position and unplugged? Be nice

@UncleScottsKitchen
@UncleScottsKitchen 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kathleen! For that leak, the first thing to do is figure out where it is coming from. Is it a BIG leak (as in, will all the oil drain out over time) or is it a few drops? Is it happening while the unit is stored or just when it drains right around cooking? If it's happening during storage, maybe the oil storage lid isn't on correctly or maybe it's become cracked somehow. If it's occurring when the oil drains, make sure it is lined up correctly. Let me know!

I recently purchased the T-Fal deep fryer, it's been great thus far. I want to make these chicken strips, but I cannot find your recipe. You mention in the video that it was posted to your website, but I can't find it on there either. Does the recipe page still exist? Thanks!
@UncleScottsKitchen
@UncleScottsKitchen 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Pete! I made the mistake of redesigning my website a little and forgetting that I had mentioned some pages in older videos. My fault. For those chicken tenders, depending on how many you have, you can marinate them in 3 cups buttermilk, 1/8th cup of salt and another 1/8th cup of hot sauce. You can adjust the heat and add some cayenne and black pepper too. Give them at least an hour or two to soak. Then shake them off, dredge them in some flour + salt + pepper, and fry. DEE-licious! The main thing is the buttermilk and you can adjust whatever other seasonings you want to throw in.

If I remember correctly, that is a 3.5 quart fryer, and I just filled the hopper up to the line... hard to see in the video but there is are minimum and maximum fill lines in the hopper. For storage, this is the EZ Cleanmodel with storage in the fryer.... there is a little lever that you turn when it cools down and the oil drains down into a plastic storage container.

I'm looking to buy my first fryer. I'm conserned about the depth of the oil. The videos doesn't seem to show that you could submerse anything taller than about an inch. Do you think you could submerse a cut up broiler size chicken with bones?
@UncleScottsKitchen
@UncleScottsKitchen 4 жыл бұрын
Not exactly sure, but I think you would have to do the chicken in more than one batch. You could probably get three or four pieces of chicken in at once. Eight would be too many for one batch. When you put food in, the oil seems bubble up (for lack of a better term), so the oil level in an empty fryer looks a lot lower than a fryer with food in it.

Scott, do you store the oil at room temperature or in the refrigerator. if room temp, how long will it last if it has food particles in it.
@nuuwnhuus
@nuuwnhuus 3 жыл бұрын
You can just store it inside the fryer really, as long as you keep the lid on. Depending on what you've cooked in it, it might not even be worth the hassle to clean the oil truthfully. Strain the oil if there are crumbs in it. Otherwise just take advantage of the best thing (after temp control) about a frying pan, you can put it away with the oil still in it. Liquid last 7 to 8 times, non liquid lasts a bit longer. If it changes colour or starts to fume while heating up it's time to swap that stuff out.

Here are 2 suggestions to make it even better. 1. You should remove those fake applauses. 2. I noticed that through out the video, you always had the reflex of looking away from the camera lens, as if you were scared of doing a ''digital eye contact''; which at times felt like when someones doesn't want to talk to you but is forced. But otherwise, great and informative video. A very nice touch from you is that you do not try to exaggerate your facial expressions like all the other youtubers. Also, i do not know which type of flour you used, but i'd suggest you to do it half corn starch half all purpose flour and to cut your chicken a little bit thicker to have a juicier end result.

Its a cool design and frys good, but the plastic container is very cheaply made. With in the week of buying it, I asked my girlfriend to clean up the tank so I could start making dinner when I got home. She didn't understand how the locking mech worked so when she picked up the unit, the plastic tray slid out of the bottom and essentially shattered on the floor, rendering it unusable,and our counters are short, so it wasn't a hard fall. Fortunately I bought it on Amazon so I can get a full refund, but I can't say I'm super thrilled about getting the same model again knowing how easy it can be broken, not too mention it cost me $20 bucks worth of high quality peanut oil I could have gotten allot more batches out of .
@UncleScottsKitchen
@UncleScottsKitchen Жыл бұрын
You dropped the hooper full oil? Holy cow I bet that was a mess. In a pinch if you are waiting on the replacement, I think you can use it without the plastic oil hopper. Compared to the other fryers I've reviewed in this price range, the T-Fal really seems like the sturdiest, believe it or not. Some of the others have metal hosings that are very very flimsy. I think All-Clad makes a higher-end version that is very very similar that might have more steel. All-Clad and T-Fal are part of the same parent company, so it's probably a high-end TFal.
@notsans9995
@notsans9995 Жыл бұрын
@@UncleScottsKitchen exactly, the fryer itself is pretty good, I appreciate it comes with a solid steel tank instead of some weird chemical coating. It also heats up fast and maintain temperature pretty well, most other table top fryers usually can't even heat up all the way to 340 despite what the dial says,even the nozzle that connects the tank to the plastic container seems quality. Im just upset at how flimsy the plastic was, one accidental fall was all it took to break it.
