T is always for Tabor. It is thanks to Peel releasing an ep of 4 songs in 1986 from Tabor that I remain her fan today.

4:47 - "As you will have noticed, it's been quite a long time since we had a war, and in my quite old-fashioned way I'm not terrifically keen on the idea of having another one.." That's a sentiment we all - or nearly all - agree with. Very prescient, John.

Not just a great singer, but a gracious and thoughtful person. I hadn't doubted that, but it's nice to see it lived out in person.

She was so good in her early days. But then she started singing dirges like the barmaid's lament

Strange, she jumped from never having made a record to singing with the Oyster Band. She actually made six or seven solo albums and a couple of Silly Sisters albums in the 70s and 80s before releasing an album with the Oyster Band in 1990. My favourites are the first three - Airs and Graces, Ashes and Diamonds and A Cut Above with a young Martin Simpson. June's version of Richard Thompson's A Strange Affair on A Cut Above is brilliant. Her version of Genesis Hall, which is only on the Richard Thompson tribute album Beat The Retreat, as far as I know, is also excellent. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gpS6Z3V-iryKra8 If you're a June Tabor fan, you're probably a Maddy Prior fan as well. Check out The Great Valerio on that album. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4THlamMna6oj6c

Her first album in her own right was in 1976; her first work with the Oyster Band was in 1990.
