Hock was alright, never a sensational runner with the ball. The timing and the trade was good for both, Big Brain Brad with the perfect move again.

TJ did not belong on a Dan Campbell (FORMER TE!!!) TEAM. Not a complete TE.

I personally never understood why Hockenson was such a big deal. Lions started doing better without him

70% of Goffs interceptions that season were balls thrown to Hockenson. JS

I’m pretty sure Hock ran wrong routes and caused a pick6 and a couple more ints.

That’s one of the reasons we went 8-2 after we got rid of Hock.

I remember when we drafted TJ, I was happy about it. I think he was a great tight end for us and for Minnesota truth is. But to pay him 17 million when we won more games when he was traded, come on dude speaks for itself.

TJ needed a fresh start on a team who had a pln to use his talent. He was a lot more bitter right after the trade, but you expect that. Good luck to him. Sometimes a trade is win win and I think that is the case with this one.

What I hear from this clip and being a fan it sounded like he was complaining about the ball while we were losing in our upstart season of 22’ it seemed to have an effect on the locker room where once he was traded the team started taking off he didn’t believe in the system and tried to force the lions hands and Holmes was like there ya go back to the cornfields 😂

Guy on the left is delusional. He is not a top 5 tight end. His YAC was always terrible.

I watched the full interview and it sounded to me like there was a communication problem, which is weird for this group of Lions coaches

Hockenson didn’t really handle it in a mature way at the time. “That’s really what we’re here to do is go somewhere and win some games. That’s kind of the first time I’ve been able to say that." Hockenson - 2022

Come on yall I'm a lions fan and tj is a great player and he was having a hell of a year before he got injured eventually we are going to have to pay Sam so are you guys going to jump ship on him too

If we are 1-6 and rebuilding, then yes you trade your TE in this case LaPorta. It would give you draft capital to accelerate the rebuild process. It's just the right move in a rebuild as it was the right move with Hockenson. He was probably going to walk anyways AND why have a top 5 TE when you have 8-12 other GAPPING holes on the roster. Now if we were talking an Elite QB my opinion would differ.

Different situation, if it were the same situation then yes I'd trade him as well. As it stands the Lions look to be contenders and not rebuilding, when the time comes and you have to pay Sam and your still competing for the division or a SB and Sam's still a key component then yes you pay him. Its literally based on the situation. I liked TJ, he was my 2nd favorite Lion and I hated to see him go BUT I understood it was the right move.
