Hi Phil, he really does a tidy job , we’ve done a diy version but it’s reduced tds from 570 down to 120 with a stable ph of 6.9 -7.0 fishes appetite is off the scale and clarity is super sharp.

Hello Allan🖐. It’s information like yours that reinforces my decision👍. My TDS reached over 600 in summer so had to do something and had nothing but great feed back about Andy’s systems so am absolutely convinced this will work for my pond🤞🤞🤞

Picked up a big blue from Mr Finch over Christmas. It arrived in days despite the holidays. Easiest and best koi company to deal with by far. Really interested to see how you get on as it's something I have been thinking about as Norfolk water is crazy hard and high pH.

Too noisey higher up, much better fixed direct to the blockwork plus it means I can put my shelves back up😊. Yes, there is still some clipping up to be done and I need to get the returns fixed in their final position but all working great at the minute👍🐟🈲😊

That will definitely improve your water. I know you have 'bad' water where you are. Just a question, any reason why you had it installed so low on the ground? Wouldn't it be easier to have it eye level?

Hi Lau🖐. Fitted it low down so it would fix direct to the blocks…very solid. Boarded out the wall above the blocks to give an alternate position but wasn’t aware how noisey the vibrations from the pump would be when the board was fixed to the wood👍. Also means I can put more shelves on that wall👍😊

Cheers Keith, trickle in will shortly be turned down from 150ml per minute to 30lph as all that will be doing is replacing the water the drum uses to clean which is only once an hour at the minute👍. Looking at all the calculations for my trickle in and RO I should end us using a lilttle less water than I was up to this point but with a huge % of the pond being cleaned and returned. I’m pulling all the stats together and will publish them in my next update😊👍

Interesting stuff. I have never uderstood the need of 1000+ euro equipment, when plants do the same job but better. But I guess it's a question about different philisophies.🙂👍

I think the real issue for me is that I just don’t get the results I want using plants as I don’t have enough room to plant a meaningful veg filter. I’m going to try floating baskets (very large) this season if only to help with the Nitrates👍😊

Hi Phil. That looks a great set up! Great work from Andy!! I was curious about the purified tap water. Does that run through one of the 4 membranes and the recycled pond water thru the remaining 3 modules? I’ll be watching out for the updates for sure! Thanks

Hi Mike🖐 No, only the pond water goes through the RO membranes. The purified tap water simply goes through my 3 stage Vyair water filter and then through my big blue. The pipe that carries it back to the individual unit takes it past the RO system but only so the solenoid which is run by the same timer as the RO system , can turn the flow on and off so that it only delivers water to the pond for each of the 30 minute sessions (6 times per day / every 4 hours) . This purified tap water only replaces the waste pond water from the RO system, it does not run when the RO isn’t. Hope this helps😊👍

Out of interest Phil what is your pressure gauge showing by the RO pump also what wattage is the pump using via the varispeed, glad to see Andy adopted my idea of fitting the varispeed to the pump, really reduces wattage and pump sounds so much smoother and quieter.

Hi Marek🖐. I believe the pressure gauge was showing 6 bar but cant remember what wattage (think 40w) so will check both tomorrow. That varispeed controller definitely reduces the noise of the pump 👍. I’m looking forward to seeing what results I get👍😊

I think the trick is not to chase perfection but to use it to reduce my TDS to a reasonable level which will also soften the water but not to the extent that I then have to add buffers to raise the KH. Definitely will need some tweaking but I’m convinced it will benefit my pond🤞🤞🤞

Andy attends all the koi events (UK and abroad) but doesn’t have a stand at all of them, think he tends to have stalls at the more local shows . Evening Robert🖐. The pods all contain a membrane 👍. Only been working for a week and TDS down by 100ppm and now membranes have started working effectively my purified pond water is running at 2.8lpm and waste is down to 0.8lpm for each 30 minute session 😊👍

@@TelfordKoiPond I use to have a reef tank and using ro water, membrane when new was a bit slow for a day or two but soon got going, I used DI resin after it but was more for polishing the water especially with having live corals. Rob.
