Good morning, afternoom or evening. I'm 69 years old, retired captain airline. I love your channel. I have a brompton too. God bless you, your family and this channel my friend!

So interesting that they didn’t tighten the pedals - seems very un-Brompton-like, considering they’re usually very good at attention to detail. I guess it’s just what happens when you get one of the first ones off the factory floor when they’re still figuring out manufacturing processes. FWIW, my T-Line, which was a second run, also had a pedal issue in that the magnetic component in the crank arm wasn’t locking in the pedal. Brompton Junction NY swapped it out immediately when I noticed at pick-up, but another pedal issue nonetheless.

It's always a good idea to check a new bike. I have had stripped screws on my older bromptons. I guess it will depend on the technician that puts it together.

Another great video, thank you! I want to change my T line pedals too, but in my case I need a pedal holder. Do you think the Ti parts holder can be fit to the rear frame securely?

I'm not sure since the T Line is a skewer type axle. Have you checked out the handlebar plug ones?

Not only T line. Standard Brompton also the same. They over tighten or lose.

I've had loose screws on some of my older Bromptons. I guess it depends on whoever assembles the bike. I guess I will need to check my bikes more closely when I buy them.

@Sailing Sexy I've had the same problem on some of my other Bromptons. My hand muscle would cramp up and it made me hate changing pedals.

Please apply loctite 243 to all the studs! I didn't and had to buy replacement studs as a few dropped out during cycling. Your feet will move about and it will cause the studs to loosen.

Same here. I use it on all the small screws.

👩🏼🦲 I love the T-Line so far. It's definitely nice to have a light weight bike. It doesn't really need any upgrades but I can't stop myself 🤣

Why not try the MKS pedals? I have found them to be both light but great for the shoe grip factor. I ride with the pearl izumi flat pedal shoes with the boa system.
@BromptonFamilyTime2 жыл бұрын
MKS pedals are great. I just wanted something lighter. They do make titanium spindles that fit the MKS pedals to lighten them. Maybe I will try that out in the future.

I would suggest changing the brake pads at least. I found the original Brompton brake pads terrible (worse than my old Tern). I change mine to SwissStop Flash Pro.

I'm leaning toward the MKS compact pedals QR in gray, didn't think about shoe sizing. I wear a size 9 Nike & 8.5 Vans for example so would platform of the MKS be good? The TI pedals if they're smaller I wouldn't consider. Thanks for the info, look forward to your comments!

It really depends on the pedal. I find that the harder shoes will slip more and softer shoes (my crocs) grip it well.

Does the pedal say how many nm to tighten pedals? My new stem had values written so small, but there.
@BromptonFamilyTime2 жыл бұрын
It doesn't say. But as long as you hand tighten it with a long wrench it will be fine. It doesn't need to be super tight.

A socket set, ratchet driver and torque wrench are better tools than an Allen key, especially on a £4k bike (some people never listen). Plus, as others have said Loctite 243 (red) or at the very least Loctite 242 (blue) on the pedal pegs, else you’ll need to replace the black pegs with red when you loose a few.
@BromptonFamilyTime2 жыл бұрын
You can't use a torque wrench on these pedals. Only a 15mm wrench will fit. Loctite is definitely a good idea. If I lose any of the pegs I will replace them with the red ones. If you start to see my pedal turn red then you know why lol.
