My biggest concern is the "Further speed reductions for >1.2 TB". I've seen throttling from other prepaid internet plans (Visible) that were so horrendous it was unusable.
@MobileInternetResourceCenter8 ай бұрын
Seems to be a new terms of service.. and it's not clear what further speed reductions they intend to take. But at 1.2TB, it should only impact the most data intensive customers, which are a small minority.

QCI 8 until 1.2TB, then QCI 9 thereafter. This is basically an upgrade! Before this, it was QCI 9 (lowest priority) from the start.

Thank you! Been following you guys for years as you keep a pretty good flow of information that at times has significantly influenced my buying decisions. I invested in 2 of these T-mobile Home Internet devices about 18 months ago based on a video of yours. I use them as backup internet on a dual wans at home and office, using cable as Priority. Came in handy a couple of times for sure.

I’ve had T-Mobile Internet for a month. In the evenings it barely works. During the days it’s OK but I mostly use it during the evenings. Had it for a month presently trying it out.

Sounds like you're in a congested market - those are prime hours where more people are online and/or streaming. So thus the low priority of this plan is apparent.

Most carrier are congested during the daytime, usually between 9am to 9pm. Looks like your are is an exception.

We have used the T-Mobile business home internet for gaming and uploads while traveling the last 2 years and it’s been an incredible value for us! No other hot spot could handle the amount of data my husband uses on the Xbox. 😂 Although, we’re wanting to boondock more and wondering if the new star link would be worth the investment?

I got my internet gateway from T-Mobile last summer for $30 per month and got a $150 gift card with it making my 1st 15 months only $20 a month. I travel all over the southwest with it in my RV. If they take away the roaming in my RV I will just cancel and return the unit.
@scottwilliams39678 ай бұрын
I totally agree. It's still only $30 as long as you keep paying for it. We used ours all over the USA ourselves. It works amazingly just like yours. Ours worked so great we paused our Starlink because we simply didn't use it ever. And now T-Mobile is getting SpaceX Starlink satellite service in boonies Starlink will become unused later in 2024-25. You have yourself a safe and great travels. Maybe we will wave and drive by each other someday ?? Lol. I'm in Texas now.

The T-Mobile/Starlink partnership will only provide very low bandwidth (think TXT messages) in areas without cell service. It will in no way replace cellular or Starlink internet. Here's our most recent video on it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpvSi6mEr7h4d8k

They tower locked my gateway for 5 days..my phone would pick up other towers but not the gateway..it would only pick up the original tower it was supposed to be on. The speed also dropped to 30 Mbps.
@postersm71414 ай бұрын
I’m grandfathered in but it’s real simple. T-Mobile will simply just start throttling their older gateways to force you to upgrade to a newer one and therefore you will be subject to the new price increase. Guarantee you this will happen.
@BillAnt8 ай бұрын
They are still offering it at $50 but "Price while you maintain a nationally available postpaid voice line with AutoPay using eligible payment method." (as displayed on their main Home Internet page) So you must have at least one postpaid line and use auto-pay with a debit-card, credit-cards won't work for the lower price. Otherwise it's $60/month, so basically they will milk customers for more than $50 one way or another. lol
@MobileInternetResourceCenter8 ай бұрын
Exactly (as covered in the video), and that bundle used to be $40/mo - it's an across the board $10/mo increase.

Is the 1.2TB data cap going to apply to new users only? And will it also apply for the business customers? I currently use 1.5 to 1.7 TB.
@MobileInternetResourceCenter8 ай бұрын
It seems to only apply to new customers as 1/18 - and it's not a cap, just a threshold as to when you're subject to more aggressive network management.

I have t-mobile home internet and it absolutely sucks.. T-mobile throttles the connection constantly. Speeds are good from about 9 am to 4 pm, but between 4pm and about midnight, we're lucky to even have internet.. In the evenings, we can check email if we're lucky.. And it doesn't get better until about midnight to 1 AM.. and forget using the internet on a holiday or weekends.. or if there's a solar flare.. Contact your congressman and tell them you want net neutrality again...

@@MobileInternetResourceCenter Isn't that just another way of saying "They have oversold their service" ?? We have no other reasonable choices out here. Congress gave these companies billions to expand broadband, and all they did was make the city internet services faster. On top of all this, I have to perform a Captcha challenge every time I do a google search because google see's my network as being malicious. Google search displays message like "Your network has unresolved or undressed suspicious activity" T-Mobile absolutely sucks.
@MobileInternetResourceCenter8 ай бұрын
They have this plan address restricted to only markets they have excess capacity. If you are at your registered service address, then indeed, seems they may have oversold in that area. We are focused on mobile options for RVers and boaters however.
@rgbcolor64508 ай бұрын
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter At my registered service address? Where else would I go? Isn't it tied to the tower in my area? Yup, oversold.. and seems we have someone abusing the network since google is always making me do captcha for every single search. Time to call my congress person and start making noise.

The prime audience of this channel is RVers and boaters who aim to keep connected when traveling - so usage at a “home” address is only a secondary focus for us.

MetroPCS is offering a $30 a month home Internet service, the same as T-Mobile

Metro by T-Mobile (they dropped PCS many moons ago) is actually $50/mo and requires a line of smartphone service to even get it. Lower pricing is with the ACP program only.

I went to my local T-Mobile yesterday and asked about getting T-Mobile Home so I could use it for my camper trailer and they said I wasn't able to get this anymore due to updates. They said if it is not located at the home listed on the plan it would stop connection. Do you know anything about this or any recommendations on what I should do to get T-Mobile Home Internet still?

The terms of service have always been for fixed locations - but we have not heard of enforcement.

They experimented with tower lock last week. My gateway would only connect to the tower I'm supposed to be on. My gateway picks up a tower that's further away because it's direct line of sight. Last week it would only connect to the other tower. I took the gateway and drove to different towers and nothing. The speed dropped to 30 Mbps. My phone would still receive the line of sight tower, but not the gateway. They experimented with tower lock and lower speeds but must have gotten a bunch of calls to customer service and rolled it back. After 5 days everything went back to normal..
