So you might notice in the video I filmed this back on Aug 9 after having the phone for a few days prior and another 6 or so days since. I wasn’t informed of the recall at the time and Metro still had it listed on their website as of yesterday. People claim it’s due to the phone app being wonky and/or excess “radiation” - can’t comment on the radiation bit but my phone hasn’t had issues…yet. I hope they fix & relist, otherwise this video is worthless if they stop selling it completely now.

I'll just buy the phone but I wouldn't get service with it. I have a Samsung Galaxy S24 plus but I wouldn't switch my service over to any T Mobile budget phones at all.

man, Zizo, that used to be my go-to phone case brand years ago. Their cases are great if you want a big bulky protective case. Also they seem to only really make cases for obscure budget phones. I used them on all my really budget T-Mobile phone when I couldn't afford a flagship phone. I had mostly budget ZTE phones.

Magenta, LOL.. ok. if they insist? I've had T-mobile for 2 years now, and have used Moto phones for ages. But, I am due a phone upgrade, and do not plan on spending more than 200 on a phone. If I want an immersive video experience, I do that at home with a large flat screen TV and massive sound system. I'd prefer companies keep installed apps at a minimum, cuz I will gladly add what I prefer. I appreciate your candid and straight forward approach to reviewing this phone. I just wish all phone companies would hire you to review their phones; that could keep you bu$y, and give us shoppers a good tool for shopping. Thank you so much, and I shall subscribe!

The couple of extra points on the regular aren't significant. Geekbench scores fluctuate slightly due to battery %, apps running in the background, screen brightness and other factors. If you run the test 100 times, the phones will almost always have slightly different scores. I suppose I should've run the test 2 or 3 more times to get a more consistent score

🏆 I don't know if WingTech does any of their own products or if there's a similar, cheap, barebones Android phone out there, but there definitely should be. The only comparable option is the Boost Celero which is also a WingTech device

For sure this phone is a loss leader for T-Mobile. I could see this being a great phone for my parents. They don’t like it when things change. All they need is something that can make phone calls, text messages and have plenty of space for pictures. no bloatware or anything which makes things easier for me for when things eventually go wrong and I have to help.

@@TechDaily I'm referring to content DRM, which allows HD playback from streaming services. As the owner of the R-V+ 5g I was disappointed to find the lack of any certification for such, limiting video to 480p. DRM Info is a good app to check for such, it'll be under "Widevine CDM". I'm mostly curious if it has changed at all.

Yes, unfortunately I filmed this video about a week ago and up until 2 days ago, Metro was even still selling this phone on their website. The recall seems to be more of a "take back & fix and then keeping selling" rather than a "we're not selling this phone anymore" so I'm hopeful in the next few weeks this will be available to purchase again. Otherwise this was a waste of a video for a phone that won't ever be sold lol

Glad that was the fix for you! I think installing some other apps & themes is really the move for this phone since the OS is so bare. The phone also has had like 3 software updates which is surprising, so I'm hopeful T-Mobile is addressing any software bugs that people have been reporting

Spec is short for specifications which doesn't just mean the chipset. If you have more RAM, with different camera sensor etc that means you have different specs. Although it is worth pointing out that it's the same chipset for sure. S24 has the same chip as the s24 ultra in most regions but the phone still has better specifications
