This is a great comeback for T.O.P. he was MCing like back in the day before Bigbang. I need to find out more about the symbolism too, the only thing I could figure out was the obvious evolution theme. Otherwise I'm feelin' this song it gets me HYPE lol. Now we're all just waiting for Daesung to bring out something new.

You've probably figured it out by now, but the concept of the video is heavily influenced by dadaism the art movement. One of the last scenes where he becomes the ape and back to man again symbolizes how humans move in the wrong directions, and instead of being truthful to ourselves (in this instance I think T.O.P. is leaning towards arts, music, film etc) we end up being slaves and destroying life and only doing it for fame and fortune (hence the mass media verse and the atomic bomb). I hope this wasn't a "du-uh" moment for you. lol

You guys have the best reactions! One of the most obvious references to get the meaning of the video is the movie "2001 - A Space Odyssey", directed by Stanley Kubrick. The whole bit with the monkeys finding the microphone and the one monkey in the end being transformed by rapping, evolving to the next level, and the microphone is the tool he learns to use, all these ideas are inspired by that movie. BTW the film is pretty crazy and creepy, but worth watching imo.

I think the concept for this song and the MV was the surrealist DADA movement, which included artists like Salvador Dali. Very artistic and a true absurdist flavour.

I explained the video in my reaction :p But in a nutshell it's the evolution of top and initially finding himself. Dada refers to Dadaism an art movement which is why things didn't make so much sense. Because Dadaism is wasn't meant to make sense... But this MV is rather similar to gdragons coup d'état but more whimsical.

Exo-l_xoxo 9497 Idk if you already found out.. but the apes are actually a tribute to/parody of the film "2001: A Space Odyssey". His moustache & outfit seem to be paying tribute to artist Salvador Dalí and the running skeletons are supposed to be from a zoetrope, a pre-film device to give an illusion of motion. Other sequences from his MV are also connected to old films & artists and even his lyrics mention NY neo-expressionist Jean-Michel Basquiat. I got most of this information from the EYKA 2013 (EatYourKimchi Channel on YT) where they show those things. Although yes, it's kinda creepy, it's far more than that :D Oh and I forgot, dadaism is already in the title... So no wonder it makes us go _WUUUT??!_ ^^
