Ive had mine for 5 years. Still works like new. For a bar band, this is the shit. Bulletproof, 2 outputs, 4 useable pedals and one 12v electrical connection. Not 5 or 6 9v. No hissing or poping even after rain and beer showers. I think i paid $199.00 so thats not bad dollar per hr use. If you dont want to destroy all of your expensive pedals and effects gear. Get a used one of these.

rocktherecipe: The Magnus does not include a compressor effect, so I am not sure I fully understand your question? If you want those long singing solo notes, it is fully capable of this if you use higher gain settings on od/dst or if you activate both of those. Cheers!

Blues licks are used in demos as most guitarists use them in some form or another, so they demo capability to a wide range of potential buyers. Remember most people aren't metal shred masters, or punk rockers! Far more people play classic rock, or blues.

You guys all buy this one. Make it popular. Then when they come out with version two with a switchable/adjustable stereo loop to "top" this, I'll buy that. Gotta have my Leslie Simulator.

I'm kind just getting started with effects pedals so I'm a bit confused about some of the comments regarding the lack of effects loop. I take it that this unit can only be run in front of the amp. Is that bad? I'm looking for basic effects to use in the clean channel of my Peavey VK 2 20 watt micro head. I would want to be able to use the effects on my gain channel as well though. Will this unit not work well for my needs?

Rick Ferguson it should work. i run all of my effects into the front of my amp. if i understand the t-rex soulmate right, the effects loop is just there so you can add your favorite pedals(modulations.....etc) between the delay/reverb and dist/overdrive. the soulmate is a step up from the magnus i believe. a great pedal that has everything you may want is the BOSS ME80. good luck

can't route the reverb and delay to the fx loop and the overdrive and distortion to the front of the amp? Major failure right there. If you're going to put overdrive and time based effects into 1 unit, it HAS to be able to support the 4 cable hook up method or else it is completely useless.

Only if you are running into a 2 channel amp and plan to use the amps drive channel. I use a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia which has no effects loop.

Not if you're just using the clean channel on your amp...like me. I rock a Dr Z Maz 18 with very mild breakup...everything goes in front. I don't think it even has an FX loop. But if you check out T Rex's new Soulmate, it has I/O to support the 4 cable method. It's also 2x the price for some inexplicable reason.

FastRedPonyCar I agree with U, Bro... I really hate that speech: -"xxx Pedal, from XXX company, is better...". But, If U take a look at Carl Martin Quattro, this problem of SEND / RETURN is already fixed. U can also add some pedals from your stuff on it, like Flangers, Noise Gates, etc.... The only bad thing about Carl Martin´s one is they don´t put OD and DIST separated. U have OD1 and OD2 there. With the same knobs to make your EQs. Nobody Is perfect, but they´re trying, huh!? I won"t change my analog pedalboard for nothing. but, I really like the T-Rex ODs and DISTs. Freaking Dynamic and fat!
