T-Rex Replicator Junior | Haar Guitars Demo

Built on the same principles as its bigger brother, the Replicator Junior offers a bare-bones feature set in a smaller enclosure while keeping the same sonic performance, in all its analog, mechanical and magnetic glory.
Equipped with the same basic circuit as the big unit, you still get all the goodies that a tape echo offers, without spending too much pedalboard real estate or money. T-Rex kept the most important controls and features, so it´s a no-brainer in use.
A single playback head with three controls for level, feedback and time makes tweaking a set-and-forget affair. T-Rex also has added tap tempo, a kill-dry switch and a saturation control, to make the pedal useful in various setups and to make it easy to adjust the unit for optimal sound.
To avoid accidental knob movements, the controls can be pushed in so they sit flush with the top of the enclosure.

I have one of these and love it. I think this demo most accurately conveys the sound and magic you can get out of it, especially during the "Stacking/Ambient" part. Great video!

Indeed. It has basically replaced all of the delay VSTs I use in my recording studio as well. Sometimes I will turn the repeats all the way down and kill the dry signal, and use it to bounce stuff to tape and back into my DAW for some extra tape saturation. Overall, a very useful and versatile pedal.

Seems to have a lot of hiss in this demo though, even for tape. Is this your experience with it?

@@bv9434 Like any tape related product, it does have some hiss. This product maybe more so than others, but I would assume it's around average. It's interesting though, played through a guitar amp the hiss is definitely noticeable, but in my application of using it as an echo for my studio (running it as a send for my already recorded tracks), the hiss is non-existent. Overall for guitar though, it is the best sounding delay you can get - but it is not the least noisy by any means.

How many plays do you get out of this before you need to replace the tape cartridge?

I wonder how the tap tempo works, Because the tape speed is permanently controlled by the "time" knob

When you tap your tempo it forgets the Time knob. The moment you move Time again, it forgets the tap.

Good pedal, tks for the video. I did notice overwhelming hiss when increasing feedback, not a very subtle sound when combined with that spectral syrupy cascating delay.

I like the tele too. But you can keep that delay. Ughhh, how can a tape delay fail to sound like a tape delay. I guess I’m going to have to buy a vintage from Soundgass.

Sounds great, i was gonna buy one but the tapes are so expensive and proprietary so will be hard to get once they stop making them. The bigger version has already been discontinued

you can redo it yourself tho, the cartridge can be deassembled , but it's not plug and play! but i agree the cartridge are pretty expensive.

They are still making both units and the tapes. I confirmed this by email today -he said they’ll never stop making them, especially the tapes.
