It's amazing how fast the music changed from 1970 to 1980..

I say 1960-1970 was the biggest change. Went from Doo Wop and rockabilly to early heavy metal, funk, and all kinds of psychedelic stuff. Radical shift.

Totally. I just discovered the 2001 "comeback" lp and its killer, mostly because of the guitar

Ron Emory may be a little underrated like Randy Rhodes, but that doesn't deter them from being damn good 👍 guitar players. In fact, this is one of my all time favorite Punk EP's. I now declare this album #25 on the Silver Star Winners List. I love 💕 the Hits " You Don't Have to Die" and "80 Times". Most definitely a Crown Jewel 💎 of Classic Punk. Fucking Amazing. Get drunk and fucked up to this!

Jack putting on a British accent ... lol showing his Damned and London Punk 77 influences here.

Agreed..T.S.O.L are prob my fave band. But Jack didn’t invent the goth look and T.S.O.L didn’t invent the goth scene as I’ve heard before.. Dave Vanian and thedamned were doing it first
@coldkissofsteel2 жыл бұрын
@@leecarterreppinjesuschrist7686 Except the Damned didn't play goth music and only Dave Vanian had the goth look. Bauhaus was arguably the first in both look and music.
@johndoeiii61032 жыл бұрын
Yeah Bauhaus wasn't a thing till bela Lugosis dead. I'll admit they codified things a bit but goth came from alot of things, bands like coven, siouxsie and the banshees, 45 grave, vox pop, originally goth wasn't really a distinct sound but more of a look and attitude where you had bands of different styles often punk bands with goth members like the bags with Pat bag also alot of it came from screaming lord sutch, Alice Cooper...."goth" got more codified the more the 80s progressed and when sisters of mercy became popular that had a huge effect where it seemed like everyone started to sound like them

Just saw a screening of the TSOL movie with Jack in attendance. Either the documentary or the Q&A afterwards he talked about how "Somewhere between the car and studio, I picked up an English accent." He's a funny guy and tells great stories.
@DubIsTheFoundation5 ай бұрын
Too add to that, in my opinion, was the influence of "Machine Gun Ettiqutte" by The Damned a year before. Every hardcore scene from D.C to L.A to NYC states that album as a BIG factor. 🤟🏾🤟🏾

Always weird to me how NYHC has all this lore about their shows in tiny backroom stages to 20 people like it was legendary shit, meanwhile TSOL was headlining to thousands off a demo. Who was really the bigger influence? CA bands always had the bigger shows, but east coast hc shows were made up of like 75% of people with a zine, the press amount decided who was "bigger" in this case but TSOL might have always lowkey been the biggest band of the early 80s along with Black Flag. CBGBs maxed out at like 100 people. Like what are we doing here??
