This radio drama is the definitive version of the story for me. The joke at the end is a perfect example of why the animated movie didn't work nearly as well. Here The Joker takes his time to set up his joke, paints you a picture of the story that he's telling. There's weight in every word he says and he just sounds natural, like an actual person talking. In the movie it sounds exactly like Mark Hamill reading lines from a piece of paper. The emotion isn't there, the quiet moments aren't there, the struggled breaths of someone who just got beaten up by Batman aren't there. It just feels rushed and bland, to the point it takes you out of the moment. And sadly that's how the whole movie is.

The voice actor here did a better job then mark Hamill in the killing joke animation. Just compare Mark Hamill Scene where he shoots Barbara, with the same scene from here. You notice that even mark Hamill suked at the animation

It's true. But we have to admit that sometime both of DC and Marvel screwed up on what they do best. How many Marvel's films didn't meet fans' expectation by the way? So, this case is no surprising. I'm don't try to be bias, but people make mistake no matter how they good at. I too got complained on my Thai-dub translating once, don't mention the time I made so many mistakes that caused me subtitling career. But the pros must to learn from mistakes and experiences, ey?

The way I recognized this amazing dub that was taken down by WB is by skipping to the carnival fight and seeing if the fight sounds are from the Arkham games.Now that's a testament to how good the story and the dub was even till this day.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, this Joker voice acting by Alex Shaw performance is apsolutely outstanding. Sure, there's inspiration from Mark Hamill, but this is better than Hamill actually ended up being in the film. More time taken on the lines. Honestly, it should get awards.

The thing is, I really don't think it's Conroy's or Hamill's fault. I really don't. They know these characters, inside & out. The issue was the direction they were given. They gave the performances that the director wanted, because they're professionals. If you listen to Mark's readings of the Killing Joke from various 'cons, it becomes painfully obvious that has to be the case.

I read somewhere about the true meaning That last joke joker said. The two escaped inmates represent Joker and Batman as they both share a very similar insanity. The inmate who was able to jump across was Batman since while he is crazy he can still appear sane to the public and is at least on the path to recovery while Joker is the one who is still afraid to take the chance. The flashlight assist represents how Batman is trying to help restore Joker to be as sane as himself. While the "you'll turn off the light when I'm halfway there" seems like the joke is that he's crazy enough to believe he can stand on the light it actually shapes an even more serious anxiety Joker has. Once Joker begins to show improvement, Batman and everyone else will abandon him because he'll turn into who he was before, a forgettable person the world wouldn't mind losing.

Fantastic. The Joker reading was great - especially the full monologue. Hamill is great, but that part was too rushed. They skipped too much dialogue. This one captured the element of tragedy. A lot of emotional power.

Not bad voice acting, particularly Joker. My main issue is that a lot of the lifting of music and dialogue straight from other sources like TDK is jarring and feels out of place (I did like the added dialogue when Bats is questioning the hookers, which I found quite amusing). In fact, I think the whole thing would have been stronger without the musical score dominating over the dialogue in some of the most dramatic moments. One of the most important (and sometimes difficult) things for an artist to learn is when to stop. That said, a strong effort from the actors
