@@CalvinCJHall it's in Porno, but only Renton realises who the other speaker is. This is the ONLY thing this abysmal non-adaptation / sequel did well. Everything else was changed from the book, as they felt pornography as a theme was now passé by 2016 and the few surviving elements are totally changed. Should've done it in the early noughties... shame Boyle and McGregor were at loggerheads. A true 'Porno' film could've been epic. Much better book than film though. And Sick Boy's the protagonist, Renton's secondary. Begbie gets a lot more narrative than the first book too. Sick Boy makes it great. More enjoyable and a gleefully narcissistic narrator. Plus there's character crossover from the Glue and Marabou/Filth worlds... some of the Glue bunch are major characters in Porno, and they don't figure in the films. Well-worth a read. Mentally, I kind of kill the film narrative dead at the culmination of Trainspotting when 'Born Slippy' peaks.

This happened to me once. I was walking down the Cowgate in Edinburgh in 2018, during the Beast from the East, and this Scottish rugby player, beset by adoring fans, ripped my cloth hat off. So I turned around and chased him half way across the old town and demanded 30 quid off him for the hat which he'd thrown into the darkness in panic. He was doing that thing of shaking like a leaf but trying not to show it. That's the fun of being middle aged and in good shape, young people are slightly scared of you. So I definitely sympathise with the beggar here.
