Well then the ICC should have planned this out properly beforehand. Diabolical that any team knows the semifinal venue beforehand in an international tournament. It is always going to called into question, it will be unfair for the other teams because they don't know where they will end up. The other problem is predetermining super eight spots based on team has the same problem. ICC and the rest of cricket boards also need to find a sustainable way to make money instead of fixing fixtures in the same group or whatever. Not befitting for any international sport to do this, if they are to be taken seriously.

That's just a bad excuse, 6pm is not that early. I was watching the Afg vs Ban match on Hotstar. When the match started they had somewhere around 4-5 lakh live viewers and by the time of the earlier rain delays in the second innings that count was around 30-40 lakhs. There will always be an audience for cricket in India and more so for T20s because folks know that the match is going to over in 3 and half hours. ICC and the big 3 are just plain greedy, that's all.

The fact that there is no reserve day for a Semi Final is ridiculous. If a team goes out in the Semis, because it rained and they weren't as good in the group stage as the other team, it's absurd. It's like when England won the World Cup in 2019 off a draw, because they hit more boundaries. But based on that logic, shouldn't New Zealand have won, because they would have had more balls that went for any sort of runs? In Football, if a Penalty Shootout ends in a draw after 5 shots each, they don't decide the winner based on who had the most shots on target in the 120 minutes, they keep going until there is a winner.

I'd like someone to clarify some doubts. 1. Aren't all boards aware where the semi final and final venues are before the tournament begins? Don't all boards have to sign off knowing India will play at Guyana IF they reach the semis? In any case, wouldn't teams have to plan for either Guyana and Trinidad? So its a case of Plan A & B, instead of only Plan A. Right now the discourse is that India knew the venue and other teams were clueless where in the WI the semis would take place. But considering how the second SF went, would India have played the same team with 3 spinners? Absolutely. I think Rohit went with 4 spinners in the squad, considering the weather and the fact that pitches in WI assist spinners. Not that Guyana in particular aids spinners. 2. Secondly, this isn't the first time a team has known their semi final venue, since 1992, various teams over the years have known it as well. Why is it an issue now? 3. Regarding the lack of a reserve day, I read that the ICC had allocated 250 extra minutes for play to take place. So if the 1st SF is a washout, they use that extra 4 hours to play the next evening. Whereas the 2nd SF, the extra 4 hours will be played later into the afternoon and evening of the same day. 4. The only criticism I agree with is that, India didn't play any night games. But unlike Eng & Aus, India along with other teams had to play in the US before heading down to the WI, so does that mean the latter teams were at a disadvantage?

Completely agree. No reserve day for 2nd semi final, India playing all the matches during the day so that viewers back home can watch is quite unbelievable to be happening in an ICC event. If I recall correctly, I don’t think this has ever happened in Fifa world cups. It should be a neutral event with absolutely no bias towards any participating nation regardless of how much money they bring in.

People here moaning about how its to India advantage ? 1. Its not about advantage, its about having diff rules for one team. 2. Fixed Semi Spot definitely has a advantage, as it doesn't happen in any other sport. One team prior to tournament knows where they will play a knockout game in what possible conditions. Other 3 do not. 3. Different rules for India semi final, than for SA semi final. That poses a serious question on integrity. 4. Final could have happened on Sunday. Reserve day for both SFs gives 4 teams fairer opportunities. 5. Rather than having only Indian semi a day game, have both of them a day game to make it fairer for all. Understandable to tap into Indian market.

ICC/BCCI usually do the preseeding for the group stage where they ALWAYS put India in same group as Pakistan. It should end there.
