I had a a10 in my twenties the best bike I’ve ever owned, the sound, arm chair comfort and torque with a full fairing,where I lived there were a number of little boy racers in there mini’s lots of noise and paint and bad manners.I was able to pick the time and place ,the mini would start to run out of steam at 67 mph then I would overtake change into third then forth no more problems with that mini. The other side was Sunday afternoon rides max speed 50mph plus most other times.

Lovely bikes aren't they? So effortless to ride, yet they really can fly!

Sounds lovely and yes worth getting the speedo calibrated, especially as modern clock all over estimate the speed. 😊

There is absolutely nothing that's sounds better than a BSA parallel twin! What a lovely bike! Nice bit of wartime info about RAF Hunsdon and Operation Jericho. RIP Wing Commander Charles Picard who led the raid and was shot down and killed along with his Navigator.

Thank you for your kind comments. 😊 Re Hunsdon airfield (ie a small sloping grass strip in the middle of nowhere), I only recently found out about it's important war time role, despite living here for over 30 years! A hidden history gem 💎
@samrodian919 Жыл бұрын
@@t20racerman yes it probably was in the middle of nowhere during the war. I think Harlow was probably only a hamlet then, not the sprawling place it's since become. I'm only about ten miles from Harlow, living on the edge of the London borough of Redbridge and my brother in law and his family lived in Harlow until just about a year ago. I must go and look at the airfield soon. There is a KZbin documentary by I think a Canadian war historian about Operation Jericho that has footage of him and a local historian on the airfield. This video is well worth a look if you are interested.

What a great bike...and sound ! I've been looking at A10's for a few-years...feeling the-call ! They aren't cheap in NZ , I would have to sell my highly-modded yam XS-2 cafe' and my mint W650 in-order to buy one . Even-then , there would be no-guarantee that it wouldn;t need some serious 'Sorting' . English-bikes are a lot-cheaper in Britain and The-States , you can almost import-one for less than here which doesn't make a lot of sense Dave nz

It's such a lovely ride, and very reliable too. Shame they're so expensive out there.
@jjrider6758 Жыл бұрын
It's nowhere near as bad as an 500 Indian Enfield I had a few years back, it read so high that I was stopped by a Traffic Car because he was suspicious that I was going very slow - even for the 30mph limit I was in - and he wondered if I'd been drinking !.. My speedo was reading 30 on the dot but according to his reading (which I would hope was much more accurate ?..) I was only doing 21mph !.. and that wasn't the worst of it because the faster I went the wider the discrepancy between my speedo and reality got !..
@t20racerman Жыл бұрын
Better that way I suppose than getting a speeding ticket! 🙂
@Gribbo99994 ай бұрын
Having you speedo calibration a little slow maybe a good thing. It means you can drive to the apparent speed limit on your speedo without actually speeding. Also the odometer will register distances a little further than actual so you have a little leeway on your service intervals.
@t20racerman4 ай бұрын
@@Gribbo9999 They have to over read (or be exact) by law to prevent 'accidental' speeding offences. Mine is a little too slow though for my liking.

Thanks. It's set up for low down oomph - the 2 into 1 pipe makes a big difference. It really flies with two open pipes on, but loses a lot low down.

@@t20racerman Had a two into one dunstall on my T140 when I got it. Ran ok but much better after a midrange tune from motorcycle mechanics & fitting the stainless cambell ray gun replica silencers I got given with it.

Are you aware of the vibration damper available for the Quad Lock? It’s designed to isolate the phone and more specifically the sensitive cameras from damaging vibrations transferred through the solid mount you have there.

One good thing is it is a constant error, it doesn't change with the different speeds which should give a clue to the problem?

I don't know about bike Speedos, but car speedos must be set up to under read, so it can never cause you to speed, my car speedo is about 2 to3 mph low at 30 and 4 to 5 at 70mph. You probably know that anyway. A nice bike, I would like to know what the mods are, and that Ariel is a bit of a can of worms, but interesting.
@t20racerman Жыл бұрын
I'll do a couple of videos on the mods - there are a lot! I don't mod it for the sake of it, but I've owned it for 40 years and have improved things on it along the way to make it more reliable, faster and to stop better!

As far as I know satnav doesn't allow for hills, so it will always under read.
@t20racerman Жыл бұрын
It's not accurate on steep hills, but much of my testing (not all of it in the video) was on fairly flat roads. Those speed reminder things that show your speed as you enter a village always show me going a little faster than the speedo reads.

@@t20racerman I find those things vary though, I think some are set to exaggerate your speed.
