Great review. Can I ask what the best option in your view would be for someone who wants a camera like this for the following: as a toy to play around with the kids with especially for seeing out cat is the fields behind our house, to check for heat loss, to help with identifying studs/electric behind partition walls, the odd other thing like checking that nothing around the house is too hot. Without needing high temps or macro I guess maybe the T2L? Not sure about the Search one but maybe that's a good option.

From brief testing at yesterday T2S+ seems good even for rough thermal leak detection through doors and windows in 80-100m range. On same distance humans are distinguishable too. From what I seen, for DIY home repairs and property monitoring for the price this cam is very nice. T3S is better for outdoor use no doubt, but price is not in DIY range anymore.

You brilliantly showed the higher temperature ranges in which this camera can work. With higher temperature, the picture becomes better. Around 20-30 ° C, t2l fares better. For me, the T2S + with T2L optics would be ideal because I do not need such a large macro, but I need a larger temperature range. Great video, thanks!

The higher Temperature range does not necessarily make the picture "better". Does indeed give it a much smoother gradual shift between Hot and Cold while keeping the details or objects visible. IMO

@@BushMasterThermal The temperature range has nothing to do with any image improvements :D In the image clarity, the key is FOV and Sensitivity measured in millikelvin. you can find that in the specification.

Interesting thing regarding the lenses is that some guys were modding it using ZnSe lenses taken from popular CO2 laser CNC machines. The idea i have now: maybe the best solution is to take T2S+ due to its super macro and temperature range and build tele lenses for long range shooting?:)

@@cleanunbox Thanks, I got it from Discord. For T2S+ camera XthermDemo seems the only camera UI under Windows 10 OS which at today works out of box without problems. And object temperature measurements are more precise in comparing with phone app measurements. Other IR cam software that I tested did not so well. ThermoVision JoeC can detect the camera and show IR picture, but with enabling any picture procesing it instantly freeze. IRCAM Thermal Viewer display error already on camera detection.

The T2S+ seems to have a less contrasty image than T2L. Makes sense because it needs to handle a wider temperature range so it has less amplification...

The less contrast image is due to the wider FOV (Field Of View) I means more visual information being focused on the same sensor size. Temperature range not affecting contrast or resolution.

@@cleanunbox I don't think the FOV is the reason. at 20:50 you can see that the black is blacker and the white is whiter on the T2L. But I read somewhere that the T2S+ has adjustable gain: High gain for up to 170 C and low gain for up to 450 C. Can you confirm is this option exists?

i think for your purposes the T2L is the best fit. only take the T2S+ if you need high-temperature measuring or monitoring or micro electronics repair.. like very small components.

@@cleanunbox thanks for reply. The thing is that for sure i will face situations when i'll need to measure temps more than 120C as 120C is fairly low temp in DIYworkshop environment. I heard that temp range can be "unlocked" somehow ok T2L. Do you know something about it? Basically thermal sensors in T2L and T2S+ should be the same, right? Could you please check what is the minimum and maximum focusing distance for the two cameras, if you still have them? It would be a very very valuable info for us. I've tried to contact Infiray directly via their website but they are ignoring Customers... I tried two times:/ Last thing: it is manual focus (very good feature IMHO) so it looks like the lenses can be detached from camera body. Is it? Thank you for you effort. It's the best source of information on these cameras i found and if i get all the infos i need to choose the model i'll buy using your links mate.

@@The_Unobtainium I think the maximum focus distance for both is infinite, the minimum in the case of the T2S+ is 8mm. the minimum for the T2L is like 4.5cm, The lens is not removable on the T2 series only on the T3 series. unlocking the high temperature on the T2L don't know if it's possible. and manufacturer most likely won't give information like that :D If you want to buy don't just use my links. Easily. The T2S+ is made for close distance and macro. you can also see far but because of the wide field of view the distance images are not so detailed. Close range perfect.

Sometimes in your comparison T2L has better field of view(5:05), sometimes T2S (10:50). I think in second video you confused t2l with t2s, because at 11:50 you clearly see thar picture at the right has more details at long range, bigger zoom, etc.

T2 Search has a much larger lens. I mean the lens material is much bigger, and since it's germanium, it bumps up the price. But also they are for different applications. The T2 Search is for distance. the T2S+ is for macro (best for mobile phone repair businesses and professionals who goes close-range inspection kind of works

Поставьте на стойку и направьте на неотражающую стену на расстоянии около 1-1.5 метра, поверхность которой будет равномерно прогрета. Мой T2L всегда имеет пересвет на 1 градус по правой стороне кадра. Смотрите пример у меня на канале.

@@cleanunbox I think as you know you cant ultrawide and telephoto lens, you need separate lenses. That is why the T2S Plus has this problem. For electronics work nobody needs 1cm macro, that is even not safe from electrical standpoint. The L versions is far better. Also I think that T3 is the way to go, but 1500Eur is too much. Do you also offer discounts on T3? Is it shipped from EU?

@@karolm7405 The T2S+ have a sligtly wider FOV. that means more information on the same sensor surface vs the T2L that results more saturated image on the T2S+. if you look at the P2 thats even more blurry because it has the widest FOV among the 256x192 resolution models.
