Ordered parts to build this just now. I was looking for a motorcycle turntable to spin my bike in the garage and came across this video. Thanks for sharing Tim. This will help me a ton as my driveway up to the garage is steep and I hate trying to get the bike out and fighting that hill. Now I’ll spin the bike in the garage and ride it out. Guaranteed I’ll be riding more now!

Hi Mike, I'm glad this was helpful.

The genius of it all is the sheer simplicity and economics. You could actually pack it in the lid of your tail box if you chose. I might not have room enough to spin mine around but you’ve inspired my creativity immensely!

I'm glad this has inspired you. I use this turntable all the time and I still love it. Thanks for your comment and for watching.

I built one with 3/4 inch plywood. Works perfect. The plywood needs very little attachment power to the top of the spinner. Pl 400 works. Painted over beach sand into the top is plenty of traction. Great idea. Thanks for posting!

I've just knocked one of these up, using pop rivets instead of welding, and it works amazingly with my Triumph Explorer. Total cost was £35 UK.

Hi Les, Using pop-rivets is a great idea! Thanks for sharing that idea. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

@@2e0btx Hi Peter, you can get a 12 inch lazy susan bearing rated to 1000lbs from Simply Bearings in the UK. Roughly £15.

Clever idea. Never wanted a center stand on the klr till now.
@Tim2Wheels6 жыл бұрын
Hi Casey, I understand. I never put a center stand on my KLR for several reasons, but this would've been a good reason to do it. I used to use my motorcycle jack with the KLR to move it side-to-side, but it would not let me spin it around like this. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Great video, I didn’t weld though I drilled holes to line up the steel plate and bearing and used M5 10mm screws and nuts with red loctite.

thank you tim I've seen this done in a couple of different ways and sizes (wood/thicker steel)before But yours is by far the simplest and the way i will construct mine as my tiger 955i is a big heavy bugger.well done and thank you best wishes nigel

Hi Tim. I echo comments below. Having looked at what is available commercially (£175 in the UK) and the various DIY options, yours seems to be the simplest. Plus your comment about keeping the height as low as possible to make it easier to use the centre stand. Inserting a flat piece of wood under the rear wheel to lift the bike a little would also help to get the bike on its centre stand while on the turntable. Also a useful comment about your experience simply leaving the bike parked on the turntable when not being used. Thanks

GENIUS. Thanks for this great idea Tim. I see many comments regarding KLR centre stands. Maybe I must look to installing one on my KLR. Regards from S Africa Clive

Great project and it does not affect the leverage of the center stand as the height of the turntable is quite low. Where is a good place to get the 1/8" steel and have you considered making these turntables and selling them online?

I agree - brilliant idea! I just ordered one of the lazy Susan's. Question, what are your thoughts on using something like "JB Weld" instead of welding? Thank you for all of your videos. Dave
@Tim2Wheels6 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, That's a good idea! The JB Weld should work just fine. There's really no shear pressure (side-to-side). I think it's worth a try. If you do, PLEASE let me know how it works. That may be a great No-Weld option for other viewers. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Best I have ever seen! I want and need one (but do not have the tools to build one). How much would you sell one for? I have a BMW K1200LT, and this is a must for me, despite having reverse on the bike, my driveway has an inclination, so hard to back it into the garage.

This is awesome Tim. Just watching this video the last week or so and ordered up to replicate it. When I take my bike off the center stand I have been sitting on it and pushing off. If I do this with the turntable I would most likely have to drive over it. Seem OK? Any better advice?

@Tim2Wheels5 жыл бұрын
Hi Dale, I have seen larger stands for sale that would accommodate a Sportster / Cruiser size bike with no center stand. I don't recall the brand but they are a long track for the wheels and a larger center to fit the side stand. Maybe other here know the name? Thanks for the comment and for watching.
