So, what did you think of it. Any problems with the headlight guard causing reflections from the headlight?

Hi John, I am still very happy with this guard. After 2+ years, it still looks like new and has never come loose. No reflections or distortion of the light pattern. It has been tough and stayed perfectly clear. I am very impressed with how clean it keeps the headlight. I rarely need to remove it. Thanks for the question and for watching.

Nice bit of kit..But an easy way to fit the velcro dots is to join the two together and fit them to the cover. You can then fit and press on the cover. That way you have both parts fitting correctly instead of possible out of alignment.

Nice bike.. ironically I traded my r1200 gs for my klr last August. I really loved my bmw but I found the quality wasn’t what I was thinking it would be. After needing a clutch, having a rear main oil seal leak and having one of the cylinder head bolts pull out of the engine block I decided I had enough.. it only had 15,000 miles on it I love the klr because it’s cheap, easy to work on and I’m more comfortable than I was on my Bmw.. I hope your bike treats you better than mine did because they really are a great bike when they’re running well.. I still enjoy watching your videos and I can’t wait for summer too!!

Supertrucker207 - The relative simplicity of KLR is one of its strengths. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Sounds like my LT. In 67,000 miles I've had the FD rebuilt after a pinion seal leak, and I replaced the clutch myself two years ago and replaced the transmission seals after the clutch was contaminated with gear oil. And a bunch of small stuff like in tank fuel hose and such. Fortunately, the LT has yet to leave me seriously stranded, but it came close. The u-hose in the fuel tank failed 1/4 mile down my driveway the morning after we returned from a 5,000 mile trip to Newfoundland. Had that failed in Gros Morne, I would have been an unhappy camper!

Do you ever have to remove the cover to clean the lens? Doesn’t water or moisture get in between the headlight and the cover, since it is not air right? Also, does the headlight cover come off easy?
@Tim2Wheels
@Tim2Wheels 4 жыл бұрын
Very rarely. I'm amazed at how clean the light stays. But when I do, removal is very easy with the velcro tabs. And I've never had a problem with it coming loose.

Hey, Tim! Thanks for the video. Silly question on the Velcro - do you think this would benefit from using DualLock instead of the included fuzzy Velcro? I take mine off road and def. don't want surprises.

Interesting to see your new bike. I currently ride a K1200LT and test rode a KLR last summer. I nearly bought it, but my wife rides with me much of the time and I think the KLR is a little too small. The GS is also on my list as is the Super Tenere and a couple others. My biggest concern with the GS isn't the bike itself, but the lack of dealers in my area. And, my LT has been far more troublesome than my Kawasaki Voyager and I would like some Japanese reliability again. However, the BMW features and performance are second to none, which makes the decision tough. 🙂

LTVoyager I know what you mean, I've been riding and debating many bikes, but the fit, features, power, and comfort made this GSA the right choice for me to do 2-up touring with my wife. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Tim2Wheels I am curious to see more videos about changes to the GS. After the LT, I would need an RDL seat and backrest for sure.

Hi, Tim. First of all, thanks for your video. As you said in previous answers and after some time now, do you really think this protector is interesting for protecting your led light? Regards.

Hi Juan, Yes the polycarbonate material is extremely durable and scratch resistant. after 2,500 miles it still looks new. I am confident that it is protecting the very expensive BMW LED headlight assembly. Many owners want the rugged looks of the wire mesh/metal guards and that's fine. However, with this cover NOTHING, like small stones, dirt, etc. is getting through. when dirty, I clean the cover and it's good to go. I've not had to remove it to clean the actual headlight because it stays clean. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

This one is primarily for 2-up touring. I just couldn't go with a traditional cruiser//touring bike. I like to take dirt, gravel, and forest roads when the mood hits. :) Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Complete garbage. It fell off within 1 mile of riding. I usually dont buy anything involving "Velcro". And that little tab on the headlight bezel snaps right off with very little effort. So now have to buy a new bezel from BMW and find another protector that doesn't fall off within minutes. Maybe I received a lemon, so I'm not knocking your video. I'm in Arizona so the heat could be a factor. Talking with the company now. The other problem I had was excessive RTV on the headlight assembly. The bezel was obviously installed immediately after the headlight was assembled and the bezel was stuck to the RTV.

Bill LV Eightfivefive Which models? My LT has been troublesome, but it is a very complex bike. But there is nothing like it when it is running well. I have heard that the R series bikes are both more reliable and much easier to work on. I have twice rented K1600s in Europe and both were trouble free over 5,000 miles or so of riding.
