I give you my impression of the ammo guard kit that I received just before going on vacation with my GS 1250. I obviously drove in the rain and I noticed no infiltration or condensation inside, a Once mounted on the motorcycle the Ammo guard really seems like an original BMW piece, a truly fantastic product that I recommend to any GS owner. Thank you for this very high quality product.

A little silicone around the Aliexpress should greatly improve the leakage issue, which also makes it somewhat permanent. Still, the Ammo is clearly a higher quality product.

Got my Ammo-Guard recently and mounted it with the mirrored front. Looks great but unsure how much if light it cuts out for safety concerns as well as our “helpers in uniform” will spot me and pull me out for this being illegal where I’m located. My self I appreciate it! Especially after I had to wait 1 year to finally get my halogen headlight being replaced with the original LED ones

ordered original Ammo Guard on pre-order. very happy with them, a friend of mine bought the ali option in the autumn, and I really have to say that there is a huge difference in quality, we first assembled it as it arrived, and moisture came in straight away, then it was full of dew, then we glued the lens to the otter ring with Sikaflex and it is tight but still water came in, then I made a silicone gasket between the lantern and the housing to make it tight, then it was tight. but it couldn't stand almost anything because after it became firm and dense it cracked from small stone chips, when we were out driving on gravel, my Ammo guard but the mirror lens has stood up well to stone chips on it, I've had a few small scratches/nicks in the glass but it is completely and still tight, Ali's option didn't last a day, Ammo Guard will probably be on as well.

installed to my GS rallye a month ago. Moist was found on the inner part of the casing after riding through a heavy downpour. its not totally 100% waterproof i guess.

As you are a small business, I proudly support you - even when it did cost more. Much like you, I expected Ali Express to copy you. Waiting for that wasn’t good enough for me to “sell you out”. Thus far, I am happy with the AmmoGuard. It looks great. One thing…you need a “red lens” - yes, totally self-serving. 😊 (2016 GSA)

Ha! I’m getting stick for selling the blue already. Private emails in my inbox telling me it’s illegal. I’m not sure either way but I know I won’t be risking it on my bike. Red, I agree could also be popular but I think this could be even more problematic than blue as in UK (and rest of world) as red is only permitted on the rear of vehicles.

As a toolmaker and one of the first to own a AMMO GUARD ,this really annoys me that your product has been copied by a far inferior replica. shame, some will buy this and in doing so will damage their BMW light cluster...cost £1500. The BMW community need to be aware of this product.

Just installed an Ammo Guard. Very well designed, high quality, good looking and very easy installation. Not the cheapest but definitely the best looking and probably the strongest, you get what you pay for.

Yeah well, when a product is 90% cheaper, like most Aliexpress or TB products, you can expect some lower quality components...nothing that some hacks won't fix like putting some sealant etc. For something not vital on a bike I don't mind the cheaper option at all.

From experience and the word of a traffic police officer, any colour but white showing at the front of any vehicle is illegal. Especially blue! 😂

I agree but you should add to that….any ANY headlight guard sitting in front of any headlight is not road legal. We state on all material / listing / packaging this is not for road use which is exactly the same as BMW do for their factory headlight protector.

I think the blue would be illegal in the US. It is illegal to have blue lights on a US vehicle.

As far as I am aware, it is illegal to display a blue light on the front of a motorcycle. I'm happy to be wrong though. Maybe offroad use only.

It’s grey area but will definitely getting the attention of the police. In terms of off road use only……any headlight guard no matter whether it’s clear or not is illlegal. Ammo is popular because it appears to be an OEM part when you fit it without the coloured lens.

I’ve raised this in many social media including KZbin, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook showing how to install the ammo properly. If it’s not installed properly it can take on water. We only had 1 in last week which the customer didn’t even notice (he was having other work done) but I pointed it out and we removed, cleaned and refitted. He admitted that he didn’t take the time to fit in accordance to the instructions. No the colour filter will not make the Ali Ammo stronger. It has no seal. No seal means it will take on water

The mounting approach of Ammo Guard makes me doubt that it can fog up inside during wet weather. Is there warranty wrt that it will not?

Hi, we have close to 3000 out there on bikes now so we’re pretty happy with the results. Partial fogging has been reported in minus temperatures. It’s not about the rain necessarily, however if it’s not fitted with care and attention then rain could get in and cause fogging.

Hey, so my ammoguard arrived. 1. You are being too kind to the aliexpress one. My Ali version came with a cracked lens, weeks ago. I'm still waiting for the replacement they are supposedly shipping. When I took it off, it was also clear that even dust and mud gets behind the Ali version. Not having a seal is a huge reason to avoid these cheap ones. Their fragility is another reason. 2. The ammo guard is made of much sturdier stuff. 3. nitpick, I thought the ammoguard should come assembled. I ordered it with the amber lens and iirc I. The install video it shows it shipping with the amber installed. It's a small thing, but keeping it clean and assembling it without lint/etc was a pain. 4. Nitpick, Ammoguard long vs short screws either don't or do have thresdlock pre-applied, but there is no mention of it in the instructions. It's a little confusing and, being cautious, adding wet thresdlock and trying to avoid it wicking between the lens layers is a hassle. 5. Final one is the instructions are WAY too verbose. Instructions shouldn't be a conversation 😂 Nitpicking here but otherwise it's a really solid product. Having tried three variants of headlight guard - lone rider, Ali express knockoff, and ammo guard - this is by far my favorite headlight guard.

For me if the price point was around £50 with no ...look at me packaging, without the unnecessary screwdriver, I think I'd be all over this for my bike... However I'm also sure you'll get a tug from your local bobby for running a blue lens and I can't wait to see the outcome of the first court case when a car crashes because he's been blinded by his own lights reflected off the mirror lens .. also probably treading in very thin ice in the UK I would imagine.... Don't get me wrong ... The OEM like fitting looks good... .you can see it's well made and clearly your shifting them by the truck load.... So what do I know. ...i Just can't justify that price for something my GSA already has .....

You’re probably right and I for one won’t be using this on mine, but are you speaking for every country? Solid blue lights seem to be seen frequently now in UK on fronts of lorries and I can’t imagine these haulage companies messing about with our UK law enforcement. I think you’ll find it’s strobing blue lights that are an outright no.

Fitted my ammo guard about a month ago. I just put it straight on with the Amber filter and there's been no water ingress or condensation at all. I like the blue filter but are the feds likely to pull me up?

The Ammo Guard is clearly in a different league, 10 times the product but you can clearly see two different lengths of screws when you tip them on the table. (4short,3 long) You should show the Ali invoice, no-one will see these for less than £40 for a good while.

I know people are going to buy the Faux Ammo Guard but I beg people not to. It’s never good to reward these companies for stealing a design. On top of that, they usually do a horrible job at it. It may look similar and feel similar but it’s most likely never going to last and it’ll never protect as well as the real one. The real one is reasonable price on top of all that.

Your product is obviously better quality, but when all the brass inserts release from the plastic trim there’s nothing holding the lens against the gasket, meaning both products seal out weather the same amount. Zero. I like your stuff and I buy your products, but this is a miss, and I feel that people aren’t observant enough to see the weak points in it yet. They will.
