Demonstrated on a T4 2.4d, but it's pretty much the same on most vehicles.

Great video, for others who wonder which size copper washer, mine was inner diameter 26mm (but on a 2.5TDI) If you have to use the old copper washer, you might consider heating it up a little bit before you put the plug back in. Will also mention that it is recommended to put some engine oil on the gasket on the new oil filter.

I think I would have taken the sump plug out first and started draining before removing the filter ? And surely that would have reduced spillage? I would have jacked the van up and added two ramps under the wheels or two axle stands, (even plus two ramps) Never work under a vehicle with just a Jack! That Hydraulic seal can fail in a split second and the jack will be down seconds before you can react! And I would keep the 1 litre for topping up, or better still get a refund for the one litre, and buy a 5 litre for a 'long term top up' ! Good video though and well done for posting it! Cheers dx

Thank you, very nice to know there is nothing special about the oil change, even though I have experience with a lot of cars, I still like to check online if there are any tricks on a certain car. Thank you for the time to put this up. I would drain the oil first, then remove filter. Also have the car on ramps, a jack can fail.

I wouldn't have starting the engine with the elevated van, with an empty oil filter with so little oil in the sump . The oil was only just on the tip of the dipstick.

Nice to see it’s an easy job, just picked up a vw t4 and was gonna pay for an oil change might attempt myself now.

Did this model not have a plate covering all this? I need to remove a large protective plate from mine
@JoelsStuff4 жыл бұрын
It might have done originally, I can’t be sure. I’m sure if you can remove it somehow then you will find the same underneath. Best of luck!

I would have kept the 1L bottle for top ups.

Don't you drain the oil first from the sump then remove the filter? Thanks for saying 5.5l that's really what I was searching
@JoelsStuff5 жыл бұрын
JuanCD135 I’m not sure it matters which order. Perhaps there is some advantage I don’t know about!
@JuanCD1355 жыл бұрын
@@JoelsStuff yeah, probably no difference. I did the sump bolt first and got no oil over my hands when removing the filter... Maybe it helped maybe not. Next oil change I'll try it your way and let you know haha

What filter should I be using for the filter change? I just got a 92 and I'm trying to find out what filter I should use

It’s probably just best to give your vehicle registration to your local parts store so they can order the correct one in for you. They are probably all the same but it saves hassle

Hi, great video on how to service your engine on t4. I was wondering if you know what kind of fuel pump is in the tank in your van. Is it mechanical or not? I have opportunity to make a purchase of cargo van with aab 2.4d same like yours. I know they are great van and thats why i want to buy.

I don’t know sorry - I have never had to look into it

@@JoelsStuff Ohh ok that probably means it is reliable then. Thank you for replying 💪🏻

It's a mechanical fuel pump

Hate to say this, but only a fool gets under a vehicle supported only on a jack. Use axle stands or ramps.
@kennysboat44326 жыл бұрын
the wheels had wood blocks under them
@WildPhotoShooter3 жыл бұрын
@@kennysboat4432 If the jack had failed, the 2inch wooden blocks would not have saved him with a lowered van. Before I got ramps I used old wooden railway sleepers that I cut into 2.1/2 ft lengths ( doubled up) and cut a wedge shape to drive up.
@richardd36635 жыл бұрын
Hang on!! You skipped the best bit! Removal of full oil filter!!! As for easier access, I use ramps, so much more civilised.
