T7 Tales: Tire Change with Trail Tools - ASMRish

We've had these Tenere 700's over 2 years and 30,000 km now. Luckily we've never had a puncture in the wild, but it’s just a matter of time.
Ages ago we decided to practice a tire change / puncture repair with the trail tools in a nice comfy garage. It took Vicki 2 hours to complete the change! I'm sure we'd be under an hour working together and replacing only a tube, but she wanted to have a go herself.
She replaced the Michelin Anakee Wild at 6000 km (70% Road - thanks North Island) with a Shinko E805.
Trail tools we fit under the seat for a puncture repair
- 21" Tube
- Rally Raid T7 tool
- Motion Pro bead breaker
- Motion Pro tire spoon / spanner
- Enduro Star trail stand
- Motopumps pump
- Dish soap & gloves
ASMRish edit... who knew clangs, squeaks and grunts could be so relaxing :)

Its nice to see someone show the reality of changing a tyre. Every other KZbinr seems to make it look easy but thats a full work out and you didn't even so it in the mud and rain.

Good work team. I too have changed both Trudi and my tires each time new ones are required using just my “on the bike tools”. Very well done on suppressing the swearing 😁

Great work! I see you have the RallyRaid wrench (so do I) and you are using it correctly. I did not. It was too tempting to use foot to stand on the hex-part sticking out to get momentum, but that actually twisted the tool! You did right by standing on the tool it self. That make no twisting momentum. Quite important to point out. Happy trails!

Thanks @Nomad Sweden - we love your content! I had the same bendy issue as you before straightening it out and giving it to Vicki to use. Rally Raid kindly sent us a replacement (the newer ones are thicker) but that was only after she got bullied by MadTV for posting a picture of the bent one 🤔

I try to use the trail tools as much as I can, even in my garage. But changing tyres I often give up and use my Rabaconda 😅

Please describe how bad the rim was damaged... there is plastic spacers to protect rim... if the need to change tire was on the field then I see it would be fine, but now when the work is performed in the garage I suggest to improve... (YHG Motorcycle Rim Protector for Changing Tires, 5 Pcs Tyre Changer Guard Rim Blades Wheel Protectors Tyre Change Tools Tyre) - 10 pounds... and good luck with the bike travels :)

Good job, just one thing, remove the abs sensor, it could be easy damage when putting back the wheel

Try Motoz tyres, really easy to change. Regularly change between a Motoz Adventure & Motoz GPS on my T7 (140/18 size). Takes less than 20 mins only using standard tyre levers. The bead breaks just by standing on the tyre.

Try the tools from Eastbound, there way better than what you were using, but 10 out of 10 for not giving up ;-)

Great video. Just curious how long it took you. I have changed a few rear tires on the T7 and it isn’t an easy job even with my tire changer.

Thanks @Steve Harrison. It took Vicki 2 hours. We've since done just a rear tube in around an hour but don't think we'll get much faster than that without a lot more practice! 😀

Why do you have your passenger footpegs still attached? Is it an offroad oriented T7 or not?

Removed them ages ago but had to add loops to anchor our saddle bags. Thanks for the note.
