Funny enough these guys already made GoD rank with this character not even 24 hrs of him coming out. I wish I had that time 😂. Real talk though, I labbed Clive and to be honest I think he has the potential to really do well in tournaments. Phoenix Shift is actually pretty rough to read for once your in a match. He has a homing CH low launching hellsweep attack. His combos can carry you pretty far...it's kinda nuts...

@ mostly those sponsored players have a lot of time since it is there primary job to play and compete. I totally get where you are coming from. Yeah I'm usually on Tekken 8 after my kids are asleep and generally only on for like an hour.

Nah he's about mid tier. He doesn't have the highest damage either its actually on the weaker side. However at 5 stacks it can really hurt. Otherwise generally his normal standard combos aren't high. People dont shift a lot in higher ranks they'll jab you out of your phoenix shift in the lower ranks they're spamming it to force a mix up. In higher up it doesn't work. Bet you any money even if he got 0 nerfs at the stage he's at now. You'll still see only nina, drag, jin, yoshi and alissa in tournaments and in top 5 lists. They have amazing lows and theow game with strong mids. Meanwhile clive has strong mids, decent highs but weaker lows and no throw game. His knock ups are also mostly punishable. Hence they side step a lot and try to land f3. But even that move is punishable.

@@Superfoodcookie super true! Did more labbing myself, and I absolutely agree with everything you said. He's definitely a knowledge check kind of character. Most of stuff does have big arc hitboxes and can sometimes clip you in weird ways. Funny enough most of his stuff is 12-14f punishable in every instance. I will say that some mids he has like 222 and phoenix shift 1+2 being safe are kinda lame. Oddly enough though I haven't even fought a lot of Clive's online.

I don't hate Tekken having fantasy elements. Swords have been a thing in Tekken since day 1 (Yoshi) and ever since Tekken 2 we've had angels and demons with weird super powers. Tekken fans talking about realism have not really played the game. That being said, Clive is just too much. He's got a sword, AND he summons his pet friends, AND he's got different elemental magics, AND he's got angel wings? I'm cool with having a gimmick character but not him having ALL the gimmicks.

Don't forget the use of Yoshi's sword was always unblock able and yet react able,so when it does hit it satisfying ,yoshi is HIM the only swordman allowed

When they say realism they’re referring to the fighting styles, not the characters themselves. Nearly all characters in Tekken have a grounded fighting style that resembles a martial art with a few impractical quirks here and there, at least before Victor and just Tekken 8 in general
