The ground terminal is in the middle for a reason. If you want to ground negative terminal, you can simply insert a junction between the ground and the negative. The same situation is when you need to ground positive terminal. Just one copper or aluminium bar and you are done. If you move the ground terminal to the left or right, you can easily ground only negative (or only positive, this depends on how you rearrange the terminals), but you cannot easily switch from positive grounded to negative grounded and vice versa. This is why they put the ground in the middle. The odd thing is that they do not provide that junction with the PSU, so you have to build your own using thin copper or aluminium bar, piece of unused FR4, whatever.

Nice PSU Tony at a very nice price. Very well built both inside and out and it is very nice to see the PCB isolated in its entirety. Thanks for sharing Tony.

Dont buy. 300mV standard ripple and max 1.3Volt ripple at 110 watts load.
@BjornV78 Жыл бұрын
The build quality inside was indeed not that bad, only minor that they have the terminals not at standard distance. But you can glue a piece of white plastic to the front to cover the existing holes , and make new holes that fit the standard distance of 18 mm center to center.
@TonyAlbus Жыл бұрын
Yes, on the other.. it gives you more space when connecting wires, in practice i don't use that standard size to much
@BjornV78 Жыл бұрын
@@TonyAlbus , the big advance of that standard size, is that 2 prongs mains connectors like we have here in Europe, also fits. Years ago, i cut the cable with DC Jack attached from a broken laptop charger, and placed a 230V 2 prong mains connector to the cutoff end. The DC jack is 2.5 x 5mm , what fits on lots of devices like routers enz. I also have a set of DC jack adapters that fit this 2.5 x 5mm connector, to power a wide range of devices from my bench power supply. Very handy when doing repairs, to see how much current a device draws. For safety, i have marked the 230V connector with yellow tape, and added with a Dymo the + and - marks.

@@BjornV78 Yes 1 big 12volts for the shop is great, i did the same: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnmmgYJ4pbJ2j5Y saves you lots of little adapters that take all your sockets

Thanks for the review. Maybe interesting to put it on the spectrum analyser to see how "clean" it is? On a few different loads as well.

Hi Ernst, for this price i dont expect much, also in the manual it says 50mV and some in the comments say its even more, so its great as an extra for charging batteries or something. for sensitive linear and for HAm use a HAM PSU with noise offset.
@ernestb.2377 Жыл бұрын
@@TonyAlbus Yes, we don't expect much, of course, but just curious to compare. As I have noticed on the radio that some Delta Lab PSU also distorted. I was not thinking about the ripple but rather the switching frequency , and it's harmonics. For HAM I recently ordered a 30A Linear PSU from UK. It was a good deal. If somebody is interested let me know to share the link...

Tony a most interesting PS. I like a PS that is cheap with lots of resolution. Because they work great to calibrate hobby DUT without using expensive low power calibrators. The other option that is handy is Bluetooth for a smartphone. On a large machine you can walk around and still view the test equipment. 😎 As you said you can never have too many PSs. Thank you.

Not a bad PSU for the price point. Interested to know the ripple and performance at low voltage and current as others have noted :)
@TonyAlbus Жыл бұрын
In this price range, you expect a general PSU... for sensitive Electronics go for a linear one, for Highpower RF. go for a HAM PSU with adjustable noise pot.

Good review. Interesting, but odd (in my opinion). The earth wire looked to be going to the isolated plate, implying that the main case is not earthed and, worse if true, the front panel earth terminal may already be linked to 0V.
@TonyAlbus Жыл бұрын
Well spotted, that was actualy my mistake, the ground plate is lifted, thermal isolated and so airflow can go underneath, but not isolated by ground, both the plate and casing are earthed. i did not explain very well i must say.

What is the ripple and RF Noise like Tony?
@ludovicl.3560 Жыл бұрын
I have this power supply. There is a problem with. When you set output to 5v and put a load to 2 Amps, and push the button ON you have a output RF noise of near 200mV ! If you disconnect the load (without push the on/off button) and reconnect the load, the output noise is now 50mv ! It seem a regulation problem at the start of chargin the internal output capacitor. So all is ok if you push the ON button (output capacitor of the power is himself fully charged) and then you connect your load after. The noise stay at 50mV. This probleme seem to appear only on voltage under 8v.
