That is correct! Our ancestors were originally from South, Central, and North America and they brought their culinary and other traditions to the islands. There is a ton of new research done on ancient plant DNA of the Caribbean. If you're interested, check out Jaime Pagán from Borikén (Puerto Rico). His research is revolutionary.

Barbacoa/Barbacue.Iguana .Naguas or Enaguas : Taino women dress and many Spanish speaking countries Enagua is a women's petticoat .Also all the way in New Mexico Enaguas . Naguas . Cuban for sea turtle : camagua Cuba for twins: jimagues

A UMass Amherst professor even discovered microRNA by accident while trying to make a flower a deeper purple. Instead, he ended up with white flowers-and later won a Nobel Prize for his discovery!
