What a great video! There’s so much history about our Taino ancestors not being discussed or being wildly misrepresented. Keep doing what you’re doing!

The word barbecue is used world wide but the individual methods of preparation differ. Every culture has its roasted meats. The method of barbecuing in the USA is actually from Western Africa.

I love yucca/cassava or casabe .I read the taints bought yucca from South American to the Caribbean
@CasaAreyto Жыл бұрын
That is correct! Our ancestors were originally from South, Central, and North America and they brought their culinary and other traditions to the islands. There is a ton of new research done on ancient plant DNA of the Caribbean. If you're interested, check out Jaime Pagán from Borikén (Puerto Rico). His research is revolutionary.

Genetically modified wouldn’t be the correct term… that is a mixing plant and animal 🧬. Love to you. Taina Daka! Thank you for your videos. 🥰🙏🏼💛

I appreciate your support, guaitiáo! Here’s a fun fact: genetic modification can occur within the same species. For instance, modern sweet apples were developed this way. A UMass Amherst professor even discovered microRNA by accident while trying to make a flower a deeper purple. Instead, he ended up with white flowers-and later won a Nobel Prize for his discovery! Dak'ro guárokot. (I love science.) 🧬 Thank you again for watching, and bo-guatukán (many blessings)! 💜

@ Thank you for the reply. Would it be called hybridization or genetic modification? I want to clarify as there is thought that gmo’s damage human dna. 🤔🩵
