Normally Chettiar community involved in trade and business in Tamil Nadu for longtime. They always operate with lots of conscience. In 70’s and 80’s I used to buy monthly provisions at a Chettiar shop. Even when a poor lady asks Chettiar with 20 paise coin for Pongal items, he used to give away Cardamon, cashews and Dry grapes. It will cost minimum 1 Re but still he will ensure that poor woman walks away happily. Even small things makes a lot of difference in the society.
