This movie gave a psychological awareness to parents that kids who have some syndromes/conditions doesn't mean they are retarded and that it's okay to take help and go easy on kids instead of forcing them in a race of success despite the child not being able to keep up with the pace. I love how this movie also showed the dad's perspective. He wasn't the worst father but he just couldn't understand his own son and treat him like he was supposed to. This also brings light to so many parents who think that your child not scoring enough grades is a total fail. Many argued over the scene where Ishaan's father walked away upon realizing his mistakes rather than giving a hug or something to Ishaan but I think the scene was perfect in itself. He didn't walk away because he didn't care for him but rather he did because he was embarrassed of treating his son the way he did. Many of us don't realise the fact that at the end, when we'll be on our deathbeds one day it won't be our scores, degrees and phds that we'll be proud of achieving all our lives but the little memories we made with the ones we loved and how we lived our lives in general. Not saying that we should skip studying. Education is important. But the education system of India is just not the best. I'm disappointed to say that we don't study to learn here, we study to score marks
@oh1life2live Жыл бұрын
I believe the education system in the entire world is rapidly declining toward the scores and tests system and where the 'brilliant' are separated from the 'normal or weak' based on the narrow perception placed by the 'education systems'. Trust me, East, West, North South, that is the sad dawning reality of things. They pretend they 'work with parents' to foster the child's abilities, but it is a lie and sham. Teachers are over worked, and will take shortcuts to bridge those gaps, an absolute no no when it comes to the future custodians of the world.

As someone who got bullied in school both by my teachers and peers. Who would then come home to a Dad who lost belief or hope in my success. This movie is a parallel to my story, my biography. Every time I watch this film I always cry in many points just because I have gone through what Ishaan when through to some degree. My name is Sidharth Rao, I have Dyspraxia and Comorbid Dyslexia with ADD. This got diagnosed in my late teens yet this affected most of my childhood and adolescence and it still affects me to this day. Kids who go under the radar for these learning difficulties have a hard time because these disabilities don't just affect our learning, they impact our interaction with everyone, our social skills and our mood and personality. They're a fundamental part of who we are, something we cannot change yet the world expects us to conform to its ways. This film has been an integral part to discovering my identity and learning to love myself for all my flaws and imperfections. I love Aamir Khan's portrayal of Ram Shankar Nikumbh and I love this film.

One thing you guys might have missed is, in Dangal there’s a dialogue between Aamir and his wife where he says “Give me one year. If they don’t like it anymore, I’ll bury my dream”.. So even though he wanted his girls to be wrestlers, he was not making that option compulsory

One of the best things about this film is the songs. Each one tells a story worth a separate film. I love how each song is so emotionally expressive and the music actually intensifies the feelings you're supposed to have in that very moment. 'Mera Jahan', Taare zameen par' and 'Teri toh manzil hai wohi' are my favorite tracks (the one where the kid is out on the roads, the title track, and the one that plays in the painting competition scene). And oh how saddening is 'Meri Maan' (one where the parents leave him in boarding school). That's the only song I can cry to every single time. Whenever I need a good cry I listen to it. So yeah, the movie is absolutely incomplete without all the songs. They fill in half of the story even with the lyrics. Another great thing is of course Darsheel's acting (the kid). I mean, I haven't seen any other kid come close yet. I might be flattering but that's one of the best performances from a child actor, if not the best. You can actually feel his struggle and understand his position. His expressions are so convincing. The second best character for me is Ishaan's father. The actor did a good job as both hated and loved character lol. The scene where he walks away after having a talk with Amir Khan in the film is one of my favorite scenes. Taare Zameen Par is still one of my personal favorite films. I can watch it any time. Glad you liked it.

This movie is one of the finest movies in the world. A real human being can't stop crying while watching this movie. This kid is now grown up. But this movie made him famous across the whole of India. I have watched this movie four times. The movie maker portrayed an Indian kid and how he goes through the Indian education system. Nowadays, the Indian government has banned beating up children. I am 30. My teachers were really strict when it came to study. They beat us really hard but we never complained as our elders had gone through even harder. It's not like Indian teachers don't love pupils. They do love their pupils and want to make them best.

i was the same age as Ishaan when this movie came out, and let me tell you- this movie is such an intrinsic part of who ive grown up to be, but a couple of things i wanna add: * Yes, schooling in India can look a little like Ishaan's first school, i have distinct memories of difficult rote learning and getting scolded, yelled at, punished, even hit with a scale, and i hated every second of it, but-- I have to admit that its great for the fact that life as an adult is also tough, i have to deal with rude and insensitive superiors all the time, have to make sure my work is perfect a lot, and a rough schooling has really made me invinsible in the face of these challges. So yes, while i agree that indian education needs to become more kinder and understanding of learning disabilities, this system works to prepare those who can keep up. * The reason the father seemed that way is because the previous generation of indians were the ones who worked very very hard to make an easy life for their children. india still has a lot of poverty, places with less access to education and oppurtunities, gap between the rich and poor, so his father probably didnt want ishaan to walk backwards into a life of difficulty again. His approach was harsh, but building a good life in a rough society is also hard, so i do get him. * Once again, oppurtinities in India when it comes to the arts and artistic fields are very veryyy limted, you might say its the same everywhere, but no, in many places in india there arent even a few roles you can fight for. its essential to do well at STEM and english to be someone who can move up the ladder, and for most good colleges children prepare for the entrance exams from very early in life, and these exams are some of the toughest in the world, so the anxieties of the people around ishaan come with their explanations. * This is a funny one, but-- its a common threat most indian parents use to discipline their kids that "if you dont behave, ill send you to boarding school" so him actually ending up going had me shitting bricks as a kid haha.

ah man. this movie makes me sob all the time. I first tried to watch it around 2007 when I was 7. It actually took me several years to finish watching this movie because everytime I just end up walking out at some point because of how emotional I get. A lot of what's happened to me as a child affects me to this day, things like the avoidant attachment, where I basically avoid getting close to people in fear of leaving them anyway. I was orphaned and adopted, I was abused by teachers, bullied etc. i went from having interest in many things in life, to being numb to any pleasure in life and attempted s- many times. Anyway that got dark. Yes, this movie has a special place in my heart.

However, in my case, my parents’ decision to send me away from home was due to legitimate reasons, unlike Ishan’s, where he was sent away merely to be disciplined. Amir Khan and Darsheel Safary (the actor who played Ishan’s character in the movie) did a wonderful job in highlighting the toll boarding life takes at the mental health of a child that young. Amazing movie overall.

I remember bawling in the theaters when i watched it. I always had issues with reading aloud from text, following numbered rules, and in general my academics were bad apart from Physics and English, which i somehow aced, much to the mockery from my teachers. I once scored 50/50 in a half yearly chemistry exam in grade 7, when our Science subject gets split into physics, chemistry and biology. i was the topper of the subject in that exam. My teacher responded to it by pulling me in front of the class and mocking me. I developed a fear of the subject and subsequently kept scoring low marks, which resulted in more mockery. In English, we would have options for essays, involving writing a letter, or a story, or a review of something we loved. I always gravitated towards the latter two while the majority went for the first one. And i was always shunned and mocked for it. The only two teachers who ever showed me respect was my grade 9 history teacher and my grade 9-12 English teacher. The latter once called me up in front of the class, much to my horror, but praised me for being the only one in a class of 60 to write the story. I had written a horror story involving a murder and the ghost coming back to take revenge. She praised my storytelling and usage of words, and continued encouraging my love for writing stories. Had it not been for these two teachers, i probably would have ended up killing myself at some point. The traumas of my school life isn't shared by most, and they never understand when i say that i have zero good memories of my school life. I was never provided help and was shunned. My parents complaining led to zero assistance from the school, and i was mercilessly bullied. My love for world cinema, something i developed from grade 5 upon watching Amelie, and my love for aircraft, and computers, became another reason for merciless bullying. My teacher once made me stand on her desk, holding my ears, for an hour, because i corrected the name of Mumbai airport, which she said wrong. The executive dysfunction and trouble reading continued into adulthood, and at 25, i was finally diagnosed with Autism, ADD, and dyslexia. That day, i came back and cried for hours, considering slashing my wrists and ending it all. I finally had an answer to my miseries, but the collective trauma of childhood was overwhelming me. Had it not been for my two dogs who sat beside me smiling and licking my tears off, i would not be alive today. I still find it hard to watch this film to this day, because it hits too close to home. just barring the fact that i was never given the happy ending Ishaan got. Today, I have toured film festivals across the country as a Guest and Delegate, and have written film reviews for publications, something those in my class looked forward to and shared vehemently on social media. But all that did was remind me that i was once shunned for this very thing. Those who bullied me were now writing amateur film reviews because of me. I tried telling myself to look at the positive side of it, me pioneering something from my circle, but all it did was bring out grief and hurt. As of now, I am studying to become a pilot, braving my conditions, and that is also praised as me having the balls to do something different. But it led me to quit facebook because i could not digest the praises i was getting. I lost a lot of people in the process, but those who were there through school, made effort to keep me in their lives. The Indian schooling system is filled with bullies, and i still, to this day, refuse to blame those who bullied me, assaulted me, and molested me (I am not recalling this part, sorry). They were influenced by the devils in the guise of teachers that ruled my school. Forgive me for the giant essay that i have written, but i hope i could shed light on the many traumas we neurodivergent children had to go through, and how that manifested in adulthood incapacitation and trauma.

Hey i often watch reaction videos that pop on my feed to just relive some moments of the movie, due to which i must have watched many reactions. Trust me I loved your reactions, i too teared up at the same moments you did , and your reaction was very natural and it honestly felt like i watched a movie with 2 of my elder sisters . In the future if you need suggestions/context for indian movies, or maybe even some light editing help i'll be there to do that( not paid of course) . Keep up the good work :) keep making videos when you have time

One of the many reasons why indian boys are so close to their mothers. It's heartbreaking to call " Mumma's boy " as an insult. In the whole chaotic world she is the only one who understands her boy....
