@Grahamjulian568 Baby Taavi got american citizenship because Sylvia must have applied for it that way since she is an american citizen..BUT, since Koree is a south African citizen(Kenyan)he can apply for baby Taavi south african citizenship(Kenyan) and then baby Taavi will have his 2 citizenships and will be a dual citizen..It would be wise for Koree to get this done asap as baby Taavi deserves both citizenships..I believe the closest to Ohio south african consulate will be Chicago Illinios , but Koree can find out

Hello to the Bichangas! Glad you are in America. Welcome to snow and ice. It’s really frigid these days. Sylvia, I feel your pain with the unwelcoming attitude of the lady next to you on the plane and I can relate to that. I once sat next to a woman when I boarded a flight from JFK to Tel Aviv. When I located my seat, I said Hi! My seat is next to you. She seemed bothered and reluctantly got up to let me in. I sat down and made every effort not to disturb her. A few minutes later, the plane took off and she got up and was absent for a while. When she returned, she rushed to pick up her carry on in the overhead bins and left, as if I was a nuisance. At first it bothered me a lot, but I quickly realized that by her leaving, God was giving me the opportunity to have 3 seats by myself. I couldn’t ask for more, on a 10 hour flight to Tel Aviv for a solo pilgrimage to the birth place of Jesus. I loved it! Take it easy and make this day a beautiful one. God bless you all. Taavi is meant to have 2 passports because he is a dual citizen. The Kenyan passport for the sole purpose of leaving and re-entering Kenya.

@@TiredKenyan when you think of it, they were "smuggling" a Kenyan out of Kenya using an American passport! Apologies for using such a heavy word.😅 Taavi's American passport has no entry stamp. A reasonable anomaly. Taavi was born in Kenya, thus automatically a Kenyan. I think we can learn a lot from their experiences.

I know of a family in South Africa. The wife is a South African, and the husband is an American. Their children have two passports, a South African one and an American one. It will be better if you can apply for a Kenyan passport to avoid disappointment when you want to travel ❤

@Bichanga Family, the Kenyan Immigration Officers are right. Children born in Kenya with Kenyan birth certificate, having a Kenyan father are meant to have Kenyan passports. Similar incident happened to my grandsons born in Kenya of half British heritage. I advise you both apply for Taavi’s Kenyan passport when in America. It will make life easier all round for you and baby Taavi. Safe flight.

Very rigth, I advised them to get him a Kenyan passport. Tavi´s first nationalty is Kenyan for reasons as you have explained. I know this coz i have 34 year old son and we got him a Kenyan passport and his second Nationality later. Also if one is born in Kenya of a Kenyan parent, you can renounce your citizenship but cannot lose it entirely. Kenya clearly states that their Children have dual citizenship until they turn 21 or 23.
