I would've liked to hear what this would sound like with this header and the oem stock mufflers. By now most of us know that the stock header is the problem not the OEM mufflers. There the first modification most people perform and the find out that the bike it still a quiet and they already spent over $700 on the flavor of the week (for me it was R.H.) now there back in the box because I feel they make my newer M8 bike sound like a Metric cruiser.

The stock gutted header will not perform as well with the catalyst housing being larger.

Dumping into a chamber that is larger than it should be for the motor will cause gasses to slow. Reduction in exhaust velocity hurts the pipes ability to perform as intended. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJuzloOVg9NleJY

Curious why TAB didn't opt to create a wider diameter cross-over? I understand the ground clearance purpose, do you believe going that route will create less power versus your competitors head pipe kits w/ new crossovers? Thanks. I have your BAAM Sticks w/ Zombie Baffles currently installed. 👌

David R, performance is more a factor of the entire system as a whole, especially when you have a 2-1-2 where the Left and Right Hand mufflers are just an outlet for the collection chamber where both cylinders meet anyway. What we are saying is some systems may need a little more open on the left hand to open restriction on the central collector more and some builds may not. Our header is a little less expensive because of not needing the cross-over when many builds will see no gain from it or possibly even a loss in overall performance due to even less restriction. Some builds it will undoubtedly help which is why we will sell it later as an add on piece and we are working through that currently. The nice thing about those two pieces is if you are just doing a simple stage 1 build and your bike is running very optimal already, you don't have to spend the extra money.

I would like to see a stock head pipe with the 50 cals installed sound then a after headers are installed jst to compare sound is there a slight difference in the aggressive sounds of the pipes? I have the 50 cals on my stock headers but thinking about buying tab headers

Does the TAB header have a CAT and if not, is there a reduction in the pipe size to keep back pressure up?

This header does not have a CAT in the pipe and yes, the collection pipe is much smaller in diameter than a stock for performance and exhaust velocity.

Where can I find those exhaust retaining ring pliers? The ring came off the stock headers pretty easily but I'm really struggling getting it on the new headers.

The stock decatted header is a larger chamber so exhaust gasses will slow which will reduce scavenging and performance.

It is a smooth chamber that is designed specifically for that bike. The stock was designed with the catalyst in mind so it is oversized and not designed to be gutted.
