Tabac Original: Shaving Soap Review

I agree with your comments regarding Tabac. I really like using the stick. However, trying to push the soap out of the tube as it slowly reduced was , for me, impossible. It was jammed fast. My solution was to replace the top, turn the stick upside down & using a 1.5 centimetre square piece of wood inserted against the base, I hit it with a hammer. Result? It moved. The case suffered no damage. Maybe I should keep the wood & hammer handy in the bathroom. Not sure wife would approve. All the best.

Thanks for the video Vito. I am impressed with how little soap you had to use to get a nice lather. I like creams and soap bowls but they are messy and take up a lot of room. I think a soap stick is a good option for me and it seems like Tabac is a solid choice. I hadn't realized how much larger it is than other sticks and I like the idea of a nice, reusable case. This was very helpful.

You as well David :D. Tabac is a scent that I am absolutely in love with. It's really strong and very masculine. I'm pretty sure they have a tub version of the soap but I think the stick was cheaper for me to get in order to try the scent XD

@@VitoBell Thanks for getting back, Vito. I know it's your senior year at college so you must've been super busy! I enjoy wet shaving a whole lot and generally shave every other day. I'd love to shave every day but that can cause some irritation on my neck ;) I do my face prep and lathering using cold water (like you) and warm up the blade under hot water before shaving. That has given me the best results. It has been around four months since I've started my wet shaving journey and had already acquired a whole lot of gear. I have 5 razors, 5 brushes (4 badgers and 1 horse), and a ton of soaps and creams along with hundreds of blades that will last at least 10 years ;) Wet shaving is like meditation to me and I enjoy it maybe too much;) I also watch a lot of KZbinrs like yourself and enjoy it immensely. Using all the equipment in rotation and taking good care of them is super fun! As for TABAC, it is my favorite soap and it looks like it'll last a long while. Even a small amount is sufficient to create an uber lather ;) I am a badger fan and I learned a lot from you about face lathering. Your technique is superb! Stay safe and take care!

At first I thought this little stick was a bit pricey compared to Arko or LEA, but after trying it out I realized that it lasts forever! I've been using one for two years and still have plenty left.

Arko and Tabac, it's a long way down from there! Those are the only 2 soaps I use, and I've tried almost everything. I always use synthetics, they make lather lightning fast and are not absorbant so they don't eat any lather.

Thank you so much for the comment :) It really is a long way down from Arko and Tabac!! They each have such a unique strong and distinctive scent! I've actually only ever used the Arko Stick. Would you recommend the bowl? I'm sure its a comparable experience I just have never heard much about it specifically :b

@@VitoBell The Arko bowl isn't any different to me from the stick and way overpriced. The bowl version of Tabac, on the other hand, is all I use :)

I don't understand how anybody could consider Tabac a masculine scent. Smells like the bottom of an old woman's purse. Very decent performance, however.
