Tabannusi - Board Game Review - Time To Change Letters?

The tabannusi board is really beautifull, the old city to build is a really nice tile building system, the rule are easy to go ( did not try the solo), i love how this game change things in that series. A really good game. Definitivly a masterpiece for the people how enjoy to improve strategy in a game on a long period with same circle of people. Not appropriate for a few plays, no clear strategy on the first game. My feelings are exactly what i watched on Rahdo final thougths. Congratulations to Mr Spada and tascini!

Lol, do not try the solo! Glad you like it more, I just watched Chairman of the Board's review and he likes it less than I did, though 6 is still above average!

Sounds almost like the game was released half-baked without being fully developed. As someone who ranks Trismegistus as my favorite “T” game, I am starting to regret my auto-preorder. I wonder if the controversy with the designer somehow impacted the budget and work allocation to finish this game. Even the art and graphics and mix of cardboard and plastic seems really half-baked from a UX and general aesthetics perspective. The solo mode sounds like a disaster. In spite of my negative reaction, I definitely appreciate your honest review.

I have a feeling they are more producing games then designing them more and more nowadays. That is a bit sad. Something called passion is lost on the way from design to produce.

Great overview and review! The camera quality seems sharper too. I haven't played any T games yet, but am most drawn to Tzolk'in or Tekhenu from what I've heard and seen online.

Oh, I haven't noticed any specific camera improvement - unless maybe I tweaked the Lumetri colour lighting a bit.

It is indeed a ton of work and yet it never equated to more views overall. Something I've noticed with the DETAIL format in general. Many get away with literally sitting on a sofa and talking.

@@kevindelord I know some do that and there is an argument for it, though the overview section was only a couple minutes or so compared to the rest of the review. But again, the workload and the extra quality is never appreciated by enough people 😛

For me I love Teotihuacan and Tekhenu both are very good. Tekhenu is a bit more brain burning for me when the dice become very limited. T'Zolken was my first "T" and I am very found of it with the Tribes powers expansion. Trismegistus I haven't played along with the rest of the line. I would play them if someone brought them and wanted to play, but I don't see myself picking up copies of them. The bottom of the list might be Tawantinsuyu. It iconography of this one really turned my off. Sorry David T, love everything else you've done.

Teotihuacan is the standard for sure. I do think Tabannusi does do unique in player interaction and forcing you to plan ahead (grab a die). Overall solid review.

So I was hesitant with this game given all the meh reviews. Especially from my bae chairman of the board. Played it last week for the first time and was pleasantly impressed. I guess low expectations helped out lol.

Excellent review. I saw some previews and a bit from a playthrough and... I don't feel like I have to own it. I've played tons of Tzolk'in and Teotihuacan, need to play more of Teo with expansions (first big one and the mini-expansion), need to play more of Tekhenu, maybe get the expansion for that one as well, maybe Trismegistus since I heard it's quite different, so... I don't see me picking Tabannusi instead of the others anytime soon. The good thing with T games is that you kind of know what to expect. The bad thing is also that you kind of know what to expect... :P

Your review is almost the same as mine to the T (ha!) I'm currently still just lukewarm about Tabannusi after 4 plays. The dice selection leading to worker movement mechanic is very fascinating but the rest of the game fell a little flat. The ziggurat scoring distribution feels a little unbalanced at times as well (e.g. Z01 scores 2/3/4 per building, Z09 or something score 1/2/3 per building next to a garden... which is straight up harder to do with less reward)

The worker movement is good but how many times have you got the Architect and Assistant mixed up when doing your actions? ;-)

I do enjoy T-games even Tawantinsuyu after several plays feeling quite smooth and turns go fast but this one doesn't really speaks to me. I don't really care about theme in euro games but this one is really dry and seems no enjoyable. I'm passing this time.
