Avoid the tourist traps and travel like a local with Magical Trip. They offer various small group tours to give you a truly local experience. We decided to try the Sushi Cooking Class, which included a trip to the supermarket to pick up ingredients. In addition to Sushi, you also learn how to make some traditional Japanese side dishes.

No large group, bus-riding tours for me, but focused-interest, small tours with a knowledgeable guide, like this one, are fabulous. 👍Sho was enthusiastic, energetic, informative, and fun. Also, cute. 😊 Using Magical Trip looks like a good way to have a rewarding local experience. Btw, I also _love_ adventure tours 🎉 and have done several horse-packing, hiking, and rafting/kayaking tours. Nothing like being out in nature for a couple of weeks.

I think Sho was really plugging the bar hopping tour without actually saying, "Please do the bar hopping tour when you come to Japan."🍻😂 Kidding aside, he was cute, and it's nice to know that something like that is available if I ever get to go. It would be nice to book different tours for a lone traveler like myself, so I'm not wandering aimlessly around the city.😊

We booked tours with Magical Trip on both of our trips to Japan. We loved both tours. ❤ Our guide Tommy was so knowledgeable and welcoming. I highly recommend this tour group.

That tour looks like fun, with sushi, sake and shopping for ingredients. Wonderful to have an activity to do when visiting Japan, especially if you have family or kids.

What a great tour system! This is so much better than the "point-and-babble" method. Actually doing things that everyday people do! Thank you for sharing this.

I love guided tours, especially ones that are more intimate, smaller group ones. Call me crazy, but was that a young Satoshi there? Loves beer and is a foodie? One of the first things I like to do when traveling is to go to the grocery store and farmers markets (if they have them), I always think you can learn a lot about a place by visiting those two places. There are only two places I never want to visit when traveling, the local jail and the local hospital.

Agree that a guide for any foreign or new scenario is potentially terrific - made even more so if one chooses intelligently, and tries to match the depth and tenor of the guidance to your needs and particular interests. Sho was terrific. He'd be dynamite for young people (or at least young at heart), new to Japan, and its food rituals. -Really enjoyed this video, and was sorry there wasn't another stop or experience with Sho. I liked the two of you prepping foods you presumed was familiar, but Sho educated with new detail. Nice dynamic.

Very cool. Making the meal would be fun because some ingredients are hard to find in the US, at least where I am. Especially the green veggies in the sushi roll (shisho? And the other one, I forget, lol, I don't think Nivea seen here), and taking the mystery out of the miso soup and egg would make me more confident trying it at home. Thank you!

I laughed when I saw the introduction to Onigoroshi sake, those who are acquainted with recent anime will know that this is the favorite drink of Hiroi Kikuri from the anime "Bocchi the Rock!" because it's cheap and easily available.

Not exactly what I would define as a guided tour but rather an "experience". That being said, it seems like a fun time, plenty of people tend to skip over actual supermarkets in favor of a convenience store.

I wouldn't really call it a tour. You go shopping for food and you cook it with the person. It's more like a cooking class, than a tour. During tours, you visit many places and learn many things about them, which was not the case here. Sho was very cute, though. I'll definitely go have a look at his channel.

In the video, the guy said that they also do other types of "tours" with different temes From his explanation, i guess they offer something more like "experiences" that they call tours It's not a wrong word to use cause its kinda like exploring the local couisine i guess, but it is not what i was expecting, too

I do not like guided tours w/large groups at all. I personally prefer a PRIVATE tour with a very flexible schedule. That way you r not limited to a certain time frame if something catches your interest and you want to spend more time than the tour “allocated” for that activity. I just did a private one in Tokyo and it was awesome! Also, did all private tours in a multi week tour to Italy. They r well worth the money!

They have to act as tourists, its role-playing, I think it was amazing and it displays a really good showing of what they are offering, and all the tips were very nice, and they did a great job at displaying it, whether they know it or not, its not the point of the video, its to simply show if its worth it for a person that doesn't live there and doesn't know much about such things in Japan. I respect your point but I loved this idea a lot and the services. Plus Tabi always loves supporting tourism government groups and companies endorsing foreigners, which we need more of ❤
