I saw this when you first posted and am only now getting around to building one. I’ve made a solo stove table out of 1 x 4s and it’s worked so far without any damage from heat. But this is much nicer. My plan is to make four legs out of 2 x 2 steel square stock welded together, and powder coated. I’m also hoping to bury the bolts into the cement before it hardens….

I wanted to do 2 x 2 steel legs, but I don’t have the skills. Let us know how it turns out.

Need a little advice even after watching the michael builds video. Do you spray/saturate the top w water for an hour? I missed that step and table was cracked in 8 big chunks. I also didn't see any videos where he used the fiber glass so I tried without it but will retry with it. Good thing mold is reusable.

Love the concept, will use different materials closer to my skill set. Does a beer stay cool sitting on the table while the fires going or no good that close?
@tonycampanella45974 жыл бұрын
The heat goes pretty much straight up. On the outside of the table to the middle of the table you’re OK. The last 1/3 of the table closest to the fire pit will be a little hot

Curious about how difficult it is to pick the Solo Bonfire out of the center of the table to dump-out/clean it after each use? You mentioned how heavy the table was, so I assume you don't move it to access the pit. I love that your table would also enable the use of a standard fire pit heat deflector.
@tonycampanella45973 жыл бұрын
Not difficult at all, especially with the 24” diameter. It gives you room to grab it. I made one for my friend who has the Yukon, which is the big one. Slightly more difficult to empty but not really a big deal. Thanks for you comments.

2 questions - why use mortar mix vs concrete? Did you use the same 4 foot diameter for the yukon and make the middle bigger? Not finding stock pieces larger than 4X8
@tonycampanella45972 жыл бұрын
Barry - exactly- can’t go more than 4 feet because of the plywood base. It works out fine anyway. Did one for my friend that has a Yukon. Looks great. In terms of concrete- I think going 5000 psi would be great also. Keep the mix on the dryer side. I follow “Michael’s Builds” and went with what he goes with. Good luck

Correct, pivoting on the legs might break one. I’ve done it, but i was very nervous. I had help from someone to flip it. I also did it on the grass so if something went wrong it would be a soft landing.

Hello Tony, I just finished the top for my table. What bolts did you use to anchor? I like the idea of not screwing in but using concrete adhesive and allowing the bolts to come out of the bottom.
@tonycampanella45974 жыл бұрын
Hello. I used expansion bolts. The expansion part of the bolt probably never happen. It I figured it would give more for the anchor epoxy to grab on to. The anchoring epoxy is crazy strong.
