Why do you instruct moving the right leg behind the left and then not do it in your example shots? It’s not clear why you instruct it if you don’t actually use it.

I think this is because he is just trying to illustrate the sequence and movement of each foot individually. (As a right handed player) When you are moving at regular speed before you have time to put your right foot behind your left you already start to move your left leg. The general idea is that by putting your right foot behind the left it causes your body to open up which gives you slightly more time and better positioning to not be handcuffed and play a good shot.

@@tkwilk88 ok, I understand. So, I should probably train slowly, at first, by doing the complete crossover and then when I speed up it will be easier to initiate the proper motion

Yes, exactly👍🏻 I also answered an other similar comment like yours this way. Of course you cannot use this way on top level because it would be simply not fast enough. But for players that are not yet able to perform a high level step-around, it is important to learn the steps slowly at first to get the feeling in your body for this movement.

I dont know what videos you have watched but pro players to not pivot like that. Right foot behind the left one?? Just no. And later in the video you do not even do it yourself like you have shown before.

I am explaining the techniques based on the knowledge I gained from working together with world class coaches and practicing with high level players and not from watching other videos. Anyways, the steps I showed are the general technique to step around which is a bit exaggerated. Of course you cannot do it exactly like this in the game. It would not be fast enough. But its important to get the feeling in your body for the order of the steps. Meaning to start with your right leg and then moving the left leg. Just try it out in your next practice and you will see what I mean😉

@@limittless. most of the time when it has to be fast players dont really step around but jump around anyway from what i see
@ThienNguyen-ef2kg

@@Blackain66 bc pros already got the basics down, they move both feet at once. basic drills involve moving one foot at a time, jump around when you haven't practiced only makes you loose balance and footing, causing poor shots and can't move back to position, or injuries.

@@ThienNguyen-ef2kg eh what !? hell no its a simple jump, it is used coz it is faster than 2 steps and it is fairly simple, if u train it u wont lose balance and if u get injured from that then sport maybe isnt for you lol !
