In both live and extract we get the refresh data Either direct refresh or by extract refresh.. then what is difference between them...??

No you don't get the refreshed data or the updated data in case of extract In case of extract you get an extracted version of the file. While when u refresh the same file with changes in live connection you will see the changes

Hi Pavan, your videos are excellent i like them, just one thing in this video, you selected excel sheet with Date, Customer, Sales fields, when you link this excel sheet and open by default DATE & CUSTOMER fields are consider as STRING type, you first need to change the data type of DATE to DATE than only we can change its various formats like month, day, year etc, this part you didnt mention in this video.

Great explanation! One question, if I work on the extract data and finish all the visualisation (w/o internet collection), then afterwards I have internet connection and I change to “live”, it will applies all the visualisation I have already created in the extract copy? Will be anything missing? If no, am I right to say if I am working on a dynamic source (refresh every few min), it would be better to work on extract copy first and switch to “live” after all visualisation is done?

You're likely using tableau public, which does not support these options. It's only available on Tableau Desktop, the paid version, for which you can get 14 days trial.

I'm new to Tableau and need to understand this a little bit more - In both the scenarios, Live or Extract, we have manually refresh the source in order to see the updated data in the Tableau. Then what's the difference?

actually in live there is no need to select the option refresh because after 1 or 2 mins ,it will updated it automatically but when it comes to extract you have to manually select the refresh and when the refresh is selected a recent copy of data is fetched from original db.
