Hey, you can use a dual-axis chart if u have a target(Area chart) and sales(Column chart) data in Tableau. It will give meaningful insights. For instance calculated field : excess of sales = sum(sales) - sum(target).

Running sum can be done in both right. Like in Feb it will be sum of Jan and Feb sales both. What is the confusion here ?
