Thank you for sharing your hard-earned knowledge in Mathematics with others, free of charge! We just have to be a little patient and appreciate every bit of it, wholeheartedly. There are so many in this world who do not have this priceless opportunity to learn mathematics in this way, taking it easy, without any pressure. If we ask them whether they want to trade places with us, they would be ever ready to do that. But, that is impossible and would never happen. So, let’s understand how fortunate we are and be respectful and grateful to this teacher for his generosity🙏🏽

Factoring the square root of 3 out of the original equation would produce a (1+4) factor. Doing this would be a great visual in what is happening during this simplification. Same this with the root 8/2 problem -- factoring out a square root of 2 gives (2+1) as the other factor.
@anwaraisling2 жыл бұрын
Another way that you can represent roots is as fractional powers. It would be nice if you have a video (haven’t checked yet) showing this.
@Shay-q8uАй бұрын
what is there to show? It is simple. you just use a fraction as the exponent where the numerator is the power used and the denominator is the root. x to the 3/4 power would be the fourth root of (x raised to the third power)

So you cant add square roots that arent the same but you can in the second set of examples?
@yeoldfart876210 ай бұрын
OK I'm old. Graduated High School in "72" As I remember my classes if I finished with an answer of 5 times the square root of 3 it would have been marked incorrect because i didn't complete the problem by not finding the square root of three without the use of a calculator. What has changed since then and now?
@Spitfireseven5 ай бұрын
I have white-out. I'm glad about that. I'm glad this is not a lesson in Arabia where they smack you with a stick if you even get slightly smart about the answer. I would be bruised and bloody by now. There is always a measure of enlightenment in these lessons. There are sub processes that don't seem readily apparent at all. Turn 8 squared into into four by two squared. My intuition would never take me there. It does work.

I dont know if you'll read this. But Would (√3)³ become 3√3? Cuz its √3×√3×√3 And √3×√3=3

sqrt 8 + sqrt 2 = 3 sqrt 2
@tomtke73512 жыл бұрын
and that is sqrt(18)
@tomtke73512 жыл бұрын
so could the original be simplified to sqrt (18) which is sqrt (9 x 2) or 3 sqrt (2) ?? But, since sqrt 8 = +/- answer a and sqrt 2 = +/- answer b the REAL solution is +/- sqrt 8 +/- sqrt 2 = all the following sqrt 8 + sqrt 2 sqrt 8 - sqrt 2 -sqrt 8 + sqrt 2 - sqrt 8 - sqrt 2 so the answer of 3 sqrt 2 fails to yield ALL the correct answers.... and, in fact, the demonstration of sqrt 3 + 3 sqrt 3 suggested answer of 4 sqrt 3 fails this observation too.
