I did it without a calculator in under a minute. 4 days at 24 hours a day equals 96 hours. Add the 6 hours equals 102 hours. There are 360 degrees in an hour so 360 times 100 equals 36000 Add the 2 hours (2 X 360= 720) and the 15 minutes which is 90 degrees. Total is 36000 + 720 + 90 = 36810 degrees. It took me far longer to writ this out than to do it.

24 hours x 4 days = 96 hours 96 hours + 6 hours = 102 total hours 102 hours x 360 degrees per hour = 36720 degrees 15 more minutes = 90 degrees 36720 + 90 = 36810 total degrees 😊

Hmmm... I've always hated the nomenclature of clock hands. Do you mean the big hand that's shorter, fatter, and has more surface area, or do you mean the little hand that's longer, skinnier, and covers less area?

I know what you mean. Hour hand, minute hand, is so much clearer.

That's a valid question but "Big" and "Little" usually refers to "Minute" and "Hour" respectively. Length, not Mass.

We know there's 360 degrees in an hour so I just figured out how many hours there are in four days (96) plus another six hours brings us to 102 hours. Take that times 360 brings us to 36,720. Add another 90 degrees to account for the 15 minutes and that gives us 36,810 degrees.

We had the same question a few years ago in an MBA prep exam. The correct answer was: 90 degrees!!! In exact 4 days: the big (& small) arm of the clock will be at the same position; i.e. it moved 0 degrees. In exact 6hrs, the big arm moved again to the *same* position, ie 0 degrees. In 15 min, the big arm moved 1/4 around the clock, ie 90 degrees.

That would not be correct when discussing a clock because you can accept as fact that the big hand moves once around the clock every hour. Surprised that an MBA prep exam would have that poorly constructed a question and answer. That is the type of thing you would expect from a kid trying to get over on other kids.

I first calculated the number of rotations, or circles, which was 102.25. Then I multiplied by 360 to get the answer. And I didn't use a calculator; I used lattice multiplication.

3,067.5 oops that's the hour hand. Minute hand is 102.25*360=36,810 degrees. Oh wait, the biggest hand (or longest anyway) is the second hand. That's 36810*360 or 13,251,600 degrees. I guess it depends on what you mean by big hand.

I did this one the easy way. Each hour is 360 degrees. Adding up hours rather than minutes I get 102.25 hours. Multiply 360 X 102.25=36810.

Using a calculator I got 36,900 degrees. People will likely confuse minutes for degrees 60 minutes on a clock is 360 degrees.

Don't forget to take account of the fact that the earth will have rotated in that time, so the whole clock and its parts will have rotated an extra 1500 degrees or so

1 hour would be 360 degrees 1 day would be 24 hours 4 days would be 24 x 4 = 96 hours and plus another 6 hours would be 96 + 6 = 102 102 x 360 = 36720 degrees and then 15 minutes is another 90 degrees TOTAL 36810 degrees
