Greetings. The answer is 1/2 +3/4 = 1 1/4. Realize that 3/4 = 1/2 +1/4 and 3 divided by 6 =1/2. Therefore, the expression could be written as 1/2 +1/2 +1/4= 1 1/4, no pen and paper required.

It is so sad and embarrassing to admit, BUT I actually got this right by myself! I was so excited and proud of myself🙀 I absolutely HATE MATH and always have. I loved Geometry in school, because it was visual and logical to me. Math on the other hand was a nightmare. I never learned the basics properly so as I went through school to Algebra etc and it was horrible for me. I really enjoy your videos and understand them! I wish you had been my teacher in school, things could have turned out differently. Now I have to use a calculator or Alexa for the simplest of tasks. BTY I am 78 years old……..but I think if I watch enough of your videos I may learn to do math after all! Mahalo and keep up the good work💕

First you say write a fraction using a horizontal line between the denominator and the numerator instead of a slash and then you finish using the slash. Be consistent.

I’m a chem student studying the ideal gas laws. PV=nRT. I want to find temerature. So I rewrite: T=PV/nR. So I do PEMDAS. First I evaluate PV. Then I divide by n. Then I multiply by R. My chem teacher marks me wrong. I tell him I used PEMDAS. He laughs. I don’t think it’s funny.
