I have observed and watched these games and some other matches too. It is obvious to me that 早田 and 张本 will be top two in many years into the future, plus other top players, it will be quite a competition between the Chinese team and Japanese team! Very exciting!
I've been watching Harimoto since she was a child. She dominated her division. Was well coached. Now she has stated to fill out, grow taller, and her skills seem to be very very good.

Miwa just needs more experience. If she can make a better choice on some of the crucial points, she has the capability to win.
As a fan from the UK. I think that both Hina and Miwa are absolutely fantastic players, but the ‘acid test’ for every top male or female Japanese player, is can they beat the top Chinese in singles at World or Olympic level? Well, I believe they have the quality and strength in depth do so, and that it will happen in the next 3-5 years.

I appreciate you being a fan from a place where the sport is virtually invisible. But beating top Chinese in prestigious tournaments(wttc and Olympics) is something that only happens once every 15-20 years. You have to understand, the rule is that the best non Chinese player in the world is about as good as the 20th best Chinese. So we are talking about high school football vs Manchester United.

@@peterwind8101 First of all, I am a Liverpool fan and I consider Man Utd to be crap. Secondly, table tennis has never been invisible to me so don’t insult my knowledge of the game on the basis of where I live. Thirdly, it makes no difference how often the Chinese win titles at world level, as if there is a player out there who can beat them, (as has been the case at other tournaments), then they are vulnerable. Fourthly, I’ve been carefully following the progress of both the Japanese male and female youngsters, not to mention the likes of the Lebrun brothers and Truls Moregard, - who like his Swedish compatriot Mattias Falck came within 1 match of becoming world champion! So if you want to be negative about non-Chinese players chances of winning at the highest level then that’s fine with me, but don’t expect anyone else to agree with you.

@@peterwind8101 This is such BS lol. Harimoto has defeated Chinese player multiple times throughout his career, and players like Timo Boll and Ovtcharov has also done that throughout there respective career. 15-20 years my @ss lol. Literally Harimoto defeated Wang Chuqin and Fan Zhendong in the same group match lol. Is it tough, yes. But it’s not as impossible as you make it to be.

@@ASTRANTIA276 well that's not up to China. Maybe if other countries invested into the game with the same enthusiasm then perhaps they can be beaten. Last 23 team championships have been won by China. Men and women. Sure every now and then a Chinese player will be beaten, perhaps a bad day or lack of concentration in most cases. China sends it's second tier and third tier players to certain tournaments. These are the ones most likely to be beaten just for the international experience. If the top 6 ranked women are in a tournament one of them will become champion. If there was a rule that prevented them from playing against each other in the early rounds the entire quarterfinals would be an all Chinese affair. China welcomes the challenge, they train foreigners and do not keep its techniques close to the vest. I think if the world is going to defeat the Chinese with consistency, they may have to seriously model their training. China has schools specializing in table tennis. So is Mima Ito out of the picture ?

i could watch Miu play 24 hours a day. I think she is an unusual player who's personality is great and her skills as a ping pong player are exceptional. Her head got really screwed up after she won that championship in 2017 and was not properly guided and handled by the Japanese PP association. She lost her focus but now seems to be headed in the right direction. Love her

her forehand is too big, and stuck on the ground when making a kill shot.
张本 lost because she lacks stamina. Look at all her games, she "fades" at the end. When you lose strength/stamina, you lose focus and accuracy. 早田 she won because she makes lesser mistakes. In other words, 张本 lost because she made more mistakes, attributed to diminishing stamina. Simple. The winner is NOT always the attacker, the won who is all rounded, stands a better chance.
