This was one of the best games I ever watched I feel, so many rallies were above 20 or 30 shots and so high quality. It got even extra intense after the shots had to be counted due to some time rule.
Higher ranked attackers seem to always make comeback, it seems they get used to the rhythm, patience, and the spin. I was just talking about the expedite rule and I had not seen it in recent times, and then a video of a recent match pops up enforcing the rule. So, it looks like the rule only resulted in a forfeit point once. This 14-year-old is something else. She has the composure that is needed to be a champion. When she looked like a fish out of water in those first 2 games. She looked as though she was accepting that it's just one of those matches that's not in my wheelhouse. But she fooled me, she was recalibrating with a new plan. Four straight games!
I thought that the real ‘turning point’ was when the number of hits started to be ‘limited’ because as the attacking player, Miwa then gained a clear advantage. For Sato, the ‘counting’ scenario knocked her right out of her ‘comfort zone’, as a ‘defender relies on winning mostly by making the attacker miss. At that point, Sato needed to attack, but she just couldn’t and so quickly lost confidence, and so Miwa, (knowing that she now had the advantage) simply blasted Sato away.

@@Arthur_Pint By the time the 4th game had begun, the situation had already turned around, so I think Harimoto had seen through Sato's play before the "counting" rule was applied and had taken countermeasures.

@@kanmatsui2689 That is a fair comment. Perhaps I should have said that from the time the limit was imposed, up to the end of the match, that Miwa was much more likely to win than not.
