I've enjoyed watching this more than I have watching Fiasco Part 1. I think it's seeing all these wonderful creative minds in action working together to create a great story. I would really like to see Fiasco make a reprise in the second season of Tabletop, just for another one these set up episodes.

And let's review what SHOULD'VE happened. The two videos would've be uploaded at the same time, an annotation would've been inserted at the place in part one where Wil says "Because it takes so long, the set-up has been released as it's own episode" allowing you click and watch the set-up video before the game starts. I think that plan is the best thing they could've done, and, if there hadn't been a snafu on G&S' end, that's what would've happened.

Actually advertisements pay for everything. But i agree with you, if you don't like a video, move on. No need to complain. I love this video. Just keep in mind though... this is a business, and none of this was made for free. It cost THOUSANDS of dollars to make Geek and sundry. Look up Tallis Productions, that's the financier tapped by Google. We pay for this content by viewing it, through adverts.

The producers agree with you. That's why they wanted this to go up at the same time as the first part of the game, but there was a miscommunication with Geek & Sundry, who thought it was supposed to go up a week after. The only reason it still took about a week to go up after the screw up was realized was because it still had a bit of editing, sound-mixing, and color-correction to go through.

Well, I remember, every episode is half an hour. So, in order for this not to be it's own separate video, this would have had to get edited down to five minutes at the most, which would be impossible, or this and the first part of the game would have to be edited down to 15 minutes each, which would make EVERYTHING too confusing.

well, I wasn't saying playing the game was hard necessarily, though you're right, for the roll-players and munchkins, a game of actual roleplay takes getting used to... but also I wouldn't say what the pros have is an edge as far as the game itself, just something different entirely that shines through while playing such a game, which isn't just roleplay -- and it's also as hard for non-pros to see it unless you've actually studied it, science/technique/art not of rockets but of these crafts
@davidpaynewise
@davidpaynewise 12 жыл бұрын
cool -- well that means (in my opinion) you could probably play this game and have loads of fun at it -- you just wouldn't be able to do so to the degree of complexity and amped up story/drama results that these pros are demonstrating (unless you studied/researched the same skills and techniques they are using, which this game is clearly set up so as to allow using to take it to a whole new level)...maybe eventually you might if you played it incessantly, but simpler/faster via a class/book or 2

Thier Fiasco would actually make a great Hollywood movie. I can see it now, Night at the Glamorous....They can delve into more of the story line like Lily, at the beginning of the movie she is in bed with the head of the russian mob, she has always been his, and yet she controls him because of who she is. Then after the developed scene of them, they cut to Eddie and Betty having yet another fight, always the same thing her wanting to leave this town, and him loving his club. A good story line.
@davidpaynewise
@davidpaynewise 12 жыл бұрын
I think this game looks best for people who are somehow heavily involved with theater, screenwork, writing, that kind of thing, whether professional or amateur, or even just fans who dream of (& research for fun) that work...fortunately for the gamemakers that's a pretty huge chunk of people...also though I'm betting it might be playable in a more tame way, without all that indepthness, and still fun, but hard to see that amid all the rapidfire technical virtuosity these folks are bringing to it
@davidpaynewise
@davidpaynewise 12 жыл бұрын
lol yes... maybe Wil Wheaton should include his name in the descriptions as well, so people can more readily imdb him, since apparently it's gone way past the point when only people who already know him from internet famousness are flocking here, like say from The Guild, or those few people who ever watched that obscure one-off series from back in the day that really no one in the world heard of called *cough cough* startrek *cough cough* (okay he was a kid in that but...same face beardless)

Got to say not as "drama" as this but the best narrative RPG I've played in the last few years has got to be inspectres. Its essentially "ghost busters" with the names filed off, but the system is set up in such a way that even a very basic and simple outline ends up going all over the place and ends up with crazy resolutions and outcomes the games master never ever even considered. Brilliant game IMHO. It does take at least 4 hours to play a session though.

Great set-up episode. Can't wait until part 2 next week. I enjoy you all but Moar Alison please. Also, changing the Italian name to French is spot on. My grandfather worked at a steel company after WW2 & Italians were not liked in America due to Mussolini's and Italy's involvement with Hitler and the Axis forces. They thought he was French and called him "Frenchie," and called him that for the over 2 decades he worked there. Only a few people ever knew he was Italian after all those years there.

Eh, it's hardly rocket science. You just have to get used to playing for the sake of story rather than slaying the most monsters or w/e. Pros don't have that much of an edge either when there put into an envirornment where they have to improvise and collaborate rather than meditate in front of the type writer.

I've played this game, and it's a hoot kids. I died Scarface style, in a hail of bullets while crashing a rival gang's den/restaurant. Character generation is a breeze and establishes relationships between characters - a sometimes painful process in an RPG. It's fun watching other creative types set their game up.

I agree with other people here, this should have been uploaded before or at the same time as the previous part. It gives a lot more context to the story, and i think i would have enjoyed it more. The cover of the box is a guy being shot (shooting himself) in the head... If you expose your kids to this you are a fucked up parent. Just because something is a game does not mean it is for kids. Amazon recommended age is 13-15, that's bullshit; this game should be 17+ just like any movie featuring the same content.

I know that the short attention span of KZbin viewers made you exclude this from the original episode but honestly: this is needed exposition I would've liked to have. This is part of the game and I laughed a couple of times watching this. If a game needs an hour and a half just show it the way it is - an hour and a half. We won't mind. This is better than TV :-)

Which is almost always the case...and not only with Fiasco. After "converting" to the Indie New Wave of RPGs (where narration bounces constantly between master and players), I discovered that a lot of players I thought to know well actually suck when it comes to imagine almost any kind of scene.

I played this with my friends + family. Nobody read the rules but me so I wasn't sure if we were doing it right but we were. We played a Wild West set, and by the end of it my younger brother was a Mafia boss who shot me (his Deputy Sheriff ex-mafia son), my girlfriend (a sherrif) my sister (a prostitute) and her boyfriend (a Mobster trying to blow up a building to cover up a giant robbery) giving us various wounds and then mourning my death. Was a crazy fun game.

The problem with dating is simple. It comes down to choice, of which you essentially have only two. 1) Date someone you know "A friend" which never turns out well or 2) Date someone you don't know "A stranger/speeddate :P" Which never turns out well.

great way to write movies. Rolling dice and see what works the best. It Seems like some movies are made that way but the players were to excited to think about the relationship and the connection between people to make the story line work best for them.
