I'm a long time (since 1965) APBA player. I loved it when the Master Game came out. It gave me so much more detail in the game. However, it was more involved when playing solo, but I loved seeing outfield arms, more involved pitching grades, catcher's arms, and base stealing. Everything came together with Baseball for Windows, the computer version of the Master Game. I really enjoyed that and played both solo and against other players. The advent of good micromanagers made it excellent for solo play and also for competitive play. In the 1990s, a company, CSN, operated continuous ownership leagues to play against other people around the country. This was back in dial-up time, but it turned into the most wonderful time. APBA did such a great job of add-ons like stadiums, micromanagers, draft GMs, and comprehensive draft and stat programs that I still play that version of the game. I was at this year's APBA convention and heard T-Bo called out, but Tebow for me meant Tim Tebow since I live in Gainesville, Florida (home of the Gators). It gave me a chance to play the basic game with the cards (1968 Tigers) for the first time in, probably, 50 years. This hobby, no matter the platform, makes life better.

I loved T-BOs series on how to play the Master Game with it’s clear explanations. Makes the APBA game a lot more interesting as you have to make decisions. Excellent video.

Thanks, I appreciate it and agree... T-Bo's series on the Master APBA game are great! He was a good choice to help me learn this game. :-)

Great to see the Master Game getting some love. To me this is the best face to face game out there. Me and my older brother used to have a great time with this.

Hi Jim. I certainly can see this game being EXTREMELY fun face to face. With all those decisions that need to be made, having an opponent to decide the other team would be a hoot! :-)

Thanks for sharing the video. It was quite good for viewers who play master version. I rarely use cutoff because of solitaire play and my conservative nature.

I thought the APBA Master version needed a bit more love on KZbin and I've been wanting to tackle it for a while. I don't usually use the cutoff rule when I'm playing Super Advanced Strat, so I probably might not use it here either, lol :-)

T-BO, and R.G. !!! This was excellent, and well needed on the ol' KZbin... Master game is such a fun way to play. Early in this video you were talking about all the details and decisions, and plays/situations Master Game gives you, and as far as I know, there are hardly any games (game engines) on the market that compare in that regard, with the possible exception of "Dugout Steps" Baseball (another fun but challenging one). .... Thanks so much for doing this, and look forward to the next installment of APBA Master Game! :-)

Thanks Brandan! T-BO is great and I was very thankful for his help. I agree, that APBA Master version does give a lot of detail and decisions. I'm looking forward to learning more. :-)

In games with no lefty/righty splits (Strat basic, Payoff Pitch, History Maker), I always choose the lineups and pinch-hitters as if lefty/righty splits were in effect.

I do too... just seems like the right thing to do. Lol :-)

Yep. That's why the light nod to splits in Fall Classic doesn't really bother me. I manage the same way.

A really fun video. I love detail, and the Master Game is full of it. Looks like one oddity is that the pitchers are not rated for their abilities vs RHB and LHB. Also, near the end, where trailing runner Cromartie tried to get to 2nd, that should have been attempted only if the outfielder throw went to third. And the dialogue said, “I guess we won’t throw to third.” So then Cromartie would not have tried for second. Am l saying that correctly?

Appreciate the comment. I believe you are correct. I think T-Bo was just wanting to show a crazy example. :-)

Thanks for the video. Was just thinking about ordering a starter APBA set. Was very instructive even though you were more into master game. I realized that 70% would still apply. Could you suggest a secondary vender as I have heard that APBA customer service is terrible. Thanks, keep rolling

Yeah T-Bo is great. I enjoy his channel and especially his videos on the APBA Master game. So, it seemed like he was the obvious choice to help me to learn it. Plus, he just seems like a great guy. I was very thankful he was willing to help. And yes, I have played the APBA basic game some and have a few games of it on the channel. :-)

One thing I noticed about the Master game charts is that they are a little different results...bases empty, PRN is a ground out to first and in the Master game board it is a ground out to third. PRN 12 is just the opposite in each chart. My question to T-Bo, is why did the game co. change that? I have all those 'basic PRN' memorized and then they change those results for no apparent reason...a bit confusing...loved the video though...

Thanks Matt! If he doesn't answer here, I will ask him when we get together for the last six innings. :-)

Strat,Dynasty League Baseball and Season Ticket Baseball are the most realistic detailed games by far in my opinion. APBA doesn’t have Ballpark effects,Weather Effects,It also doesn’t break down the Pitchers and Batters individually enough with an exact percentage. It seems like its more of a broad range for their player ratings. Example: With the Basic Game, There’s only 4 different categories for rating a pitcher’s ability to give up hits. Look at the Pitchers card results on the first three games I mentioned. There’s several results broken down to exact percentages. Great Show as always RG

Appreciate the comments. Looks like the Master edition certainly takes APBA much further toward a more detailed baseball sim than basic APBA does. BTW, I've been intrigued by Dynasty League for a while. I will probably break down at some point and try it. :-)
@davidwarner8957 Жыл бұрын
APBA makes a ball park effects chart. There are 6 grades in the Basic Game. The x,y,z, etc. ratings result in more than 100 different pitcher ratings in the BG.

I’ve been trying to get the MG down. Had a game ge get to 90 minutes last night which is a bit to long for me. Also, it was late at night and I was tired so that me be why it slowed down. It also went an extra inning. I did switch over to basic when it got to the 10th.
