we ended up buying everything out in 2023... it was not cheap - we even got the dragon (hes soooo awesome) but among the 3 of us it was ok and lots of painting to do, we use the boardgame to set up adventures and play the encounters out with call to arms.. it makes for a really nice RPG

But how about terrain? Table size needed? How well made are the miniatures? How easy to pick up are the rules compared to other skirmish games? How much money do we have to part ways with to form at least one cohesive 'army' or 'vs AI' play set? I'm missing a lot of information to be honest.

I play Fallout Wasteland Warfare, and I’ve played the video games Elder Scrolls: Morrowind and Oblivion… but never got around to playing Skyrim, so while I’m inclined to check out an Elder Scrolls tabletop game, the factions mean nothing to me at this point. The Dungeon Delve game mode sounds interesting, though, so I may check it out. Thanks for this video and the previous one. Very helpful!

@MisfitHobbies2 жыл бұрын
I’m with you, the cost is really high compared to Fallout but I think you can get a lot of longevity out of the game just with the core set products or even just proxying minis but for games like this the minis are a big draw which is tough

@@MisfitHobbies yeah I know what you mean. Sadly I don't play games that much, so little time. So it's just to paint. But buying both is too much. Once I done all fallout I'll move to eldar :)

The best way I know of to keep the price of these games down is to use Pathfinder Pawns, or other cardboard standees. They look great, and totally get the job done. You can get a box of hundreds of different standees for the same price as a handful of plastic minis. And you don't have to paint them so you can start playing literally a few seconds after opening the box!
@tylercook57615 ай бұрын
Alright you sold me. I have a ton of miniatures so getting all the "game" content for the price of the starter box, 3 sets of chapter cards, and two small books seems like a pretty decent entry price point to be able to play everything. :)
@moof13152 жыл бұрын
What's surprising is the difference in price from GBP to USD is quite small. Coming from GW, that was pretty cool to see. I can understand that the pound price is more expensive than y'all are used to, but the USD price is about what I'd expect.
@MisfitHobbies2 жыл бұрын
That is quite encouraging actually, yeah some of the GW currency conversions are mad! I remember people saying they had to spend $200 on a box and I was like 'wait, that cost less then £100 for me, what the heck is going on?!' It's even worse for folks in Australia when it comes to GW unfortunately :)

I think you might really like the dungeon delve mode and could be a great introduction. The dungeon delve starter has a Dragonborn, some Draugr and some skeletons for you to face off and it’d be all you’d need to get a start.

This is gonna sound like a really roundabout suggestion but take a look at the Skyrim board game they’ve got coming. Plastic versions of a lot of these minis and it’s a whole board game. Strangely may end up being cheaper than buying them all via the wargame

@MisfitHobbies2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on the experience you'd prefer. If you're looking for a miniature skirmish game then Call to Arms is definitely your bet. If however you and the people you game with primarily play board games and you think you might enjoy a campaign game then I'd say the adventure game is the way to go. I have played both games (although only played the adventure game once) and enjoy them
@carlonmarlon48509 ай бұрын
What worries me more is that we have 30 draugr and 30 bandits, but unfortunately we don't have interesting characters from other games in the series. The models are more expensive than Games Workshop figures. Some models have unnatural body positions, which makes me laugh. I really like The Elder Scrolls, but this game is too expensive and focuses only on the newest title - Skyrim, currently a waste of potential.

@MisfitHobbies2 жыл бұрын
You could but it might become a bit clunky. For instance you could all take control of a separate force and battle it out, or if you had a Stormcloak army you could all take control of a certain model each. It can work but it’s ideal player numbers is 1-3

So this is a small-force miniature wargame, which is the best way to envision it. The Skyrim board game is great too that they’ve produced, I’ve played it, and it uses hard plastic versions of some of the Call to Arms minis. It might be an easier fit for your group if your mainly board gamers

@@cameronfleming1698 It can be a little tricky at first but just take your time with it. Failing that I've a few videos on the channel here to help you learn how to play :)

No... I mean were STILL waiting for the updated ruleset. Its been how long now, 2 years??? The rulebook is really poor. they are again, still working on errata 1.2... Model Packs get released BEFORE the card pack... so you cant use them. Its a stupid release model. The histories book 1 was a step in the right direction but still lacking imo. "wave 2" felt very half baked in that its even more stormcloak/empire, the model balance is strange. dwemer + dark brotherhood felike like afterthoughts. and as you noted, prices on new expansions are outrages for what you get since you still have to get the card pack to go with them! If you buy from modiphius its 53USD per set. thats over $10usd per model. And there is some cool stuff you cant buy in your FLGS, and they are outrageously expenisve.. (looking at you mirmulnir dragon model at 135$ before shipping and its still tiny) People are better off waiting to see if they actually update the rules and things imo, which is sad to say but they really dont seem to be in a hurry to fix anything.
@MisfitHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Really important points and super important for people to hear this in order to add some balance. Regarding the card packs, I know from the Fallout releases they’ve been having a nightmare with card suppliers which I know has led to a delay on Chapter 3’s card pack. It’s still annoying for folks I know but at least there’s some form of cause behind it. Appreciate you being so honest though!

@@MisfitHobbies And its not just them. Even GW has been having some issues with printers due to shortages. So its definitely not a model they do by choice, with a handful of exceptions (dragon for instance - which was released ahead of the rules cause dragons are cool, basically.

One thing to remember is the fact that Modiphius is a deceptively small company so thi gs like this will take them more time, though I will agree that the number of spelling and grammatical mistakes in their products are really not acceptable regardless of the size of the company.
