GWS Seems unable to make a functional SW detachment, so far both detachments lean more on your oponent playing bad rather than you playing good, and that just sucks.

Everyone seems to forget about "if you can base you must". Unless you spread your army thin, your opponent will be choosing between fighting multiple units or not charging at all. This is actually fantastic.

Reading the rules myself, then watching Art of War’s video on this detachment, then watching this one, I’m much more inclined to agree with AoW on this. The detachment rule is awful. 3”, no charge bonus, and you don’t get anything for doing it. No +1 to wound, no rerolls, nothing.the enhancements are all fine at best except the one that increases it to 6”, which is so mandatory *it might as well have just been the detachment rule from the start.* I didn’t want to get Thunderwolf Cavalry because I think the wolf models look absolutely disgusting. I got wolf guard terminators instead as my “big melee threat”. As someone who uses WGT with Logan Grimnar leading them; this detachment does absolutely nothing to make playing them worthwhile. Terminators are not that durable and they don’t hit that hard. If your WGT are stationed on an objective and you’re trying to threaten the 3” countercharge, there is very little that could stop your opponent from killing you in shooting. This detachment doesn’t make any of the things it wants you to do actually worth doing. I think the only thing this detachment is good for is being proof of how much GW absolutely despises melee.

I don't know why everyone feel bad to this detechment, to me it's a really nice detechment🤔 Just tell your Brutalis+Redemptor charge onward, if your opponent ready to charge them, Rapid ingress 1×10 terminator standby for a counter charge, if they don't, charge them and tell terminators to shoot some bodys down, done👌🏻 Not competitive at all, but fricking fun👍🏻at least better than knights...🤦🏻♂️

I honestly like this detach. Is it better then Champions of Russ or Stormlance? No, but it gives us a nice, tactical deatch, which pushes you to ignore our most spammed unit (TWC). From what I'm reading online, a few people seems to be missing the fact that the 3" countercharge can be made against anyone withing 3", not only an enemy unit that charged that turn. This effectively gives us a 3" bubble where the enemy has to think twice before entering. Also, we can buff the OC of our battleline as well, at least for the moment, using Wolf Guard Pack Leaders in terminator armour. It's not an incredible boost, but Blood Claws with OC 3 sounds interesting.

Really dislike this detachment. Thematically it sounds like a cool way of making your army more aggressive. Practically it's going to play as "catching your opponent out when they make the mistake of ending a move too close to you units". It's a feels-bad detachment.
@tailssonicteam160416 сағат бұрын
It's feels-bad for both you and your opponent. If your opponent messes up then it's feels bad for them. But it's super easy to play around. Like a 3" aura is just terrible. If it was a flat 6" heroic intervention basically then I could see it. But 3" is just too easy to play around.
@alastairlindley5116 сағат бұрын
Both the SW detachments have been near misses for me, both fluffy as anything but just not quite executed correctly. CoR - Should've just be able to interchange between sagas each battle round with a strat to put units in more than one in a given phase, gives flexibility while still being fluffy. Either that or have the Sagas as enhancements for units and find a different detachment rule in fitting with the fluff like +1 to hit on the charge like the army rule was in 9th. CoF - a flat 6" heroic intervention would've been at least workable, 3" is just too easy to play around and relies too heavily on your opponent messing up rather than any good play from yourself as all you're basically doing is throwing units up the table. Any player with any kind of experience will have no problem dealing with it.

Gamesworkshop seem to be very lost with space wolves, they have good ideas and fluffy rules, but playing them ultemilaty sucks, both detachments rely on your oponent making MASSIVE mistakes rather than you playing well, which really sucks, who in the hell is going to stop at 3 inches of a unit if they know you can charge afterwards????? It just makes no sense, and even GWS nerfs it saying you dont get a charge bonus ahahhaha, like it wasnt bad enough.

Are you high? As a SW player I've had loads of casual success with the COR detachment, giving my whole army a +6 FNP? That's amazing! Combined with some easy ways to get the other sagas (black death on a jump pack captain with thunder hammer is bonkers) or having a character Dreadnaught charge into a unit and using epic challenge to pick out the leader (even if it's at the back of the unit cuz precision in melee is kinda weird) It's genuinely really fun in a casual setting having mini objectives to get
@marctello886116 сағат бұрын
@bog300 I'm not saying the detachment is not fun, and it can be good in casual play against not competitive people, but there is a reason COR is not played in true competitions, as i said, it relies more on the oponent making mistakes rather than you playing well, and it's not just my opinion but of a lot of others, still an opinion, so no need to be rude as you are my friend.

@@marctello8861 casual games against non competitive players is just as valid a way to play 40k as tournament play, it's absolutely fine for a detachment to be good for either type of game style

@omegonchris yes but again, i dont care if its good, if it doesnt rely on me as a player for it to be good and instead does on how bad my oponent is, that is just bad design and not too fun
@dozencatfish166714 сағат бұрын
The charges won't come from randomly stopping three inches away because your opponent forgot your detachment rule. It'll come from your opponent charging one of your units, perhaps on an objective, and then getting countercharged into a much harder fight. Opponents aren't "making a mistake" here - they have to try and take objectives from you - but with smart positioning you can benefit.
