With the introduction of Tac Stance in Modern Warfare III, I've always seen it as a fun change of pace but not a super competitive option until the big buff it got with the Season 2 update. Today, I wanted to share some details on the buff as well as a bunch of Tac Stance tips to help you dominate. What are your thoughts on the state of Tac Stance after the buff?

If you use the following Striker 9 class: Wrathguard Compensator, ULO-66 Laser, Lachmann MK2 Stock, Tactical Grip and Bastion Bruen Angled Grip; You will see it's insanely accurate in the tac stance, and you can even hit it well from a long distance (it's really crazy, it even looks like it has the same accuracy as in the ads)

The strafe speed is the main reason I use this. People have a hard time tracking me, compared to normal strafing. Only way to play on Shipment and the smaller maps.

Since some people are curious about which MW2 guns are the exception that are good with using Tac Stance, I went on ahead a did some quick searching and found these so far: For the AR category, FR Avancer is a pretty nice option since it's has just enough attachments to work with for improving Tac Stance, namely the 435mm barrel not only improving our spread but granting us better recoil control at the cost if a bit of it's range and mobility. The M4 is okay, not the best but can work so long as you stay within 20 meters. The M13C surprisingly is good with Tac Stance, granted it should be treated like an SMG up close but can still reach out to mid range if needed. Finally within this category the 74u is yet another decent option that can get away with doing Tac Stance. For the MW2 Smgs, the Iso 9mm is very controllable while having good strafe speed to boot, certainly needs extended mags but has attachments that really help improving the area that matters most. Vel 46 unsurprisingly has amazing potential in Tac Stance, LM Series-7 is the barrel to go with and the 50 round mag barely has any downsides. Lachman Sub rounds up the Smg category, while you can't use the Bruen Bastion with the Pulsar barrel, there is another good alternative in the form of Cronen Grooveshot Grip, and on paper it seems you are making the gun a bit more bouncy, but in practice it still controllable and doesn't hinder your mobility unlike some other guns do. As of writing I didn't see much else from different weapon categories, but can update this comment overtime if enough people check out the other weapons and have success with something I might be overlooking. But there you have it, with the exceptions that I've mentioned in this comment, Tac Stance isn't particularly good with most of the MW2 guns like Ace has said. Hopefully this helped someone out trying to see which ones that can be used for that playstyle.

the tac evolver with 556 rounds is by far the best tac stance weapon. you get amazing strafe speed with stalker and you kill really fast and the tac stance is absurdly tight.

@@MazevG Tac stance LMGs are not the move in multiplayer, sure it's fun to mow down a few ppl and laugh as they express their disgust with LMG tac-stance, but you're not competitive with it. Too slow & inaccurate inside a certain range. But ppl really been abusing the Taq Evolvere tho, I aint mad at them either, the gun feels good to use.

I think what this mechanic really needs is to be able to be toggled regardless of ADS status. Considering it's supposed to be used on the fly, it feels a bit clunky when it can only be activated when ADS.

You can tune your settings to enter Tac stance when you double-click ADS, it's much more intuitive that way.

Tac-stance was always good, it was just gun dependent. HRM-9 is a moster with a tac stance build when it first dropped, and my preferred way of running it. People just dont experiment, everyone wants to be a sweat. Lockwood 680 sits people down with Tac stance builds too. Add a stock to it and the renetti in tac stance is a laser. I do see this being a problem since ARs/BRs get this massive benefit.

It's cool it got buffed. Wasn't expecting it. I liked tac stance in CQC when turning a corner, or something. Being able to to still aim but at varying degrees depending on the distance to target was a fun tactical aspect. I like and use tac stance a lot more than anticipated when I first started playing

Hard disagree. A lot of the tac stance attachments sacrifice range, velocity, etc and so making those sacrifices for a specific play style just makes sense imo. It's not like tac stance by itself is extremely viable, you need to kit yourself out for it.

​@@tonedeaftachankagaming457 Physics has something to do with it. If the gun kicks upward in an upright position, then it only makes sense it would kick slightly different when you turn it sideways. Unless it's designed to react a certain way, the physics checks out. But yeah, unless you're using an SMG, tac stance w/o a tac stance build is just asking to lose gunfights, too inaccurate on its own for everything except SMGs, handguns, shotguns.

I've been enjoying using tac stance builds in the new Hordepoint limited time zombie event. You can move much faster to keep ahead of the horde while also being much more accurate than hip firing. The WSP Swarm with the hundred round mag and a tac stance build is incredible for this.

Hey Ace, great content, you mentioned 12% faster than ads on average. Does the tac stance transition get faster if you load ADS stats in gunsmith ? I.e. faster tac stance 'ads' if you have better ads stats on the gun ? (Note, fov is also better in tac stance)

I’m quite happy with the changes to tac stance. It’s been quite a while since hip firing was viable in COD and tac stance is a great alternative, and prior to the recent changes only a couple of guns could pull it off.

I’ve noticed a lot of builds that help tax stance naturally help recoil control and often have better recoil control than specs I try to focus just on recoil with.

I find my self using tac-stance quite a bit...very helpful if EMP'd, and in close quarters. Plus with the right attachments, ninja vest. And stalker boots....pretty good!

Hey Ace! You should make a video that covers bullet penetration or collateral potential! I’m an aggressive sniper, so I always use the sniper barrel with the quickest ADS speed, but I’ve notice that this greatly reduces my chances of hitting a collateral (especially on the XRK Stalker!). Is this a velocity issue? How much would armor piercing ammo help? How much damage do bullets do after passing through an enemy? What about through different objects? What guns/snipers have the highest penetration damage? Etc. Sorry for the long comment, just something I’m always curious about, and I know other snipers in the community are too… Thanks for the daily uploads and all the effort you put into your breakdowns! Keep it up!!

I don't have stats, but AP rounds should help. Though, I've had too many inconsistencies with this game. I was using the MCW with the AfterMarket kit, and it seemed like I was getting zero penetration through players until I added AP rounds to the build. Same build, I can't get one-hit melee kills with muzzle attachments that increase melee damage.

The laser that helps with accuracy while sliding is also great for a tac stance build. Helps significantly with the tac stance spread, Sprint to Fire and most of all, the laser turns off when you ADS

I've been really enjoying my Lockwood 680 tac stance setup. The movement I get out of that thing to slide zig zags around everyone while pumping out death at outrageous ranges is awesome. This is a mechanic that should stay with the franchise from now on as well.

It seems like the tac stance crosshair spread has a cap on how tight it can get. Is this just a visual thing and it actually does make the bullet spread tighter or once you reach the tightest possible spread should you focus on other stats?

Really luving Holger 26 LMG in tac-stance. I tried probably 6-7 diff weapons(Ram9, Ram7, bp-50, MTZ 556, Holger assault rifle) in tac-stance and Hol 26 is the winner. Good at all ranges and with extra bullets it really gets the job done. Fairly mobile as well.

before the nerf to the compenstaror, the dg56 has a tac stance of 0.1 and a hipfire spred of something similar, you can snipe long distances while hip firing

i found out that the fr avancer had a really good tac stance also on some gun for example the amr9 , you need the kimura laser light on it , for some reason this laser seem to help with crosshair tighten speed on some gun.

I've been LOVING tac stance since it launched, something I would LOVE with tac stance is, certain weapons like some high mobility assault rifles or SMG, it would be nice if they allow you to sprint while on tac stance! Of course you will need to lose some accuracy but it would be AMAZING for close quarter situations!

You should give the Lockwood 680 a try with tac stance, just put all the attachments that give the best Tac stance spread, it's a lot of fun, been using it for a while now.

I have a question: Is your movement/strafe speed while in tac stance tied to your base movement speed or your aim walking movement speed? Which of those stats do you want to increase, or at least avoid decreasing, to have the best mobility while in tac stance? Also, do the Stalker Boots help when strafing in Tac Stance?

One thing I haven't seen anybody talk about is using tac stance in combination with 3rd person on zombies. It takes a little bit to get used to but it makes zombies super easy. The ADS speed and movement speed of tac stance combined with the extra field of view makes for a killer combo. You are able to snap between targets and flip around 180 to kill the targets behind you with ease.

This might not be obvious to everybody: if using tac stance with the Lockwood 680, firing before the crosshairs tighen up at least a little will reduce its one-shot kill range since its effectively being hipfired. Might be better to build for fast ADS speed and use the Bryson choke, but I haven't experimented enough to really find out if that's better than tac stance. It does feel more consistent, though.

I only wish they add a setting to enter tac stance right from hip fire on dedicated button (buttons combination). Cause toggling is too klanky, especially on those guns that are not so good on tac stance and you should switch over & over

The Tyr in tac stance has been stupid fun to run and snap delete people with its ridiculous handling speed and power. It's a literal pocket quickscoper and I don't think I've ever seen anyone use it this way. I know I've had a lot of success with it!

I was having a lot of fun with the riveter with slugs, a laser, and some barrel attachment and tac-stance. Something happened this week cause now this class I was using sucks ass. It’s like I can’t hit at all with it. I dropped a 50 bomb with that class on meat and now I can’t even get close up kills.

I noticed something since the game released. Tac Stance isn't actually a spread like hipfiring. I more resembles a regular spread like ADS, but it's better compared to CSGO and Valorant. You can control it too. It might be the best way to play the game theoretically when accounting strafing speed, but no cod player will go to such lengths.

The F2000 with tac stance is definitely a favorite of mine with tac stance. Perfectly viable and effective.

I also found the FR Famas doing super well in Tac Stance, it's right up there with F2000. Both are bullet hoses and have a tight spread with the right attachments. BP is probably better but I can see the Avancer being a rogue gun.

Pre-buff, tac stance was the dominant meta way to use shotguns, still is actually. This stance wasn't a total gimmick, it actually worked on shotguns and SMGs pre-buff, but more importantly with shotguns you get tighter pellet spread in tac stance vs normal ADS.

Rust, Shipment, Stash House. Run, shoot, run, shoot... Rinse & repeat. Build your loadout for hip/Tac spread, and mobility. Maybe even put on AP rounds on stash house and just run around shooting at everything that moves, even if its behind a wall...lol

I think they went overboard. In general, and should be applicable to almost any gun, it should be a choice: less accuracy and more mobility, or more accurate and less mobility. I think that's how they sold the idea back when MW3 launched. Problem is, now it feels that the accuracy penalty is too little, making the mobility buff disproportionately large.

My only gripe with tac stance is that it doesn't have its own separate button trigger. Tac stance would be much better if you could map separate buttons to ADS & Tac Stance, sometimes you want to tac stance but you picked up another gun on accident when trying to reload, when you switch back, the gun goes to ADS, then the infamous COD timing occurs. So either I need to buy a modded controller to map it myself or I'll just deal with it. I hate having to ADS and press another button to switch between them, especially when switching requires you to take your thumb off the movement stick.
