wright yall, when you respect your animals enough to let them choose what you do to them, they will never wiggle at the mounting block, or to get tacked up. It's not about making them respect you, how do you expect someone to respect and work for you when you dont return the favor? If I were a horse and you forced me to stand there while you threw a saddle on my back and shoved a bit in my mouth I think I'd have QUITE a few things about it.... I tack my horses up in the pasture and they literally come trotting up to me to put the bridle on. Some of our bareback pads have holes in them from our horses biting them and throwing them on their backs. We dont use treats, we dont bribe them, they do it because they want to. This horse CLEARLY doesnt want to, and tying him up wouldnt make him want to any more, if anything he would dread it that much more

You shouldn’t let him win by moving the mounting block towards him. Show him you make the decisions. Make him step forward to the mounting block, or he will keep doing that. Also, a tip is (I know sometimes it is more helpful to do this but yeah) to tighten up his girth before you get on. It would kinda be more easier! You and chili look great together :))

Hey I just wanted to say that for the halter there’s another way to actually use it instead of unbuckling the buckle keep that buckled up at his normal height and then unclip the clip to clip it on and off and then you can take the halter off when the clippers off and then or not attached to the halter and then when the clip is clipped onto the halter it stays on just some advice that’s how we do it around here I mean I think I’m on the other side of the country from you but that probably is the difference!
