Judging by your tackle room I would never have guessed you were O.C.D !🤣

Thanks for that rundown on the rod buckles, I backed out of installing mine for the same reasons. Cool idea on making your own template, I might have to revisit installing mine again😁 Awesome camera work from Big Mike!! 💪

Hey TJ, good info. Definitely do your research before you start punching holes. That woulda been a bad deal.👊

I have installed two on my bass cat and I love them. They are much better than those cheap bungee ones.

Thanks for sharing. I have an aluminum decked bass boat and decided I didn’t like bungee style rod hold downs. Looked into these and with the structural supports found it wouldn’t work

Bummer!

So if you take a flat piece of stock and run it from support rail to support rail, you can mount the boat buckle/rod buckle to the bottom side of the plate. Yes, there’ll be a small gap from the buckle to the bottom of the deck, but it’ll still work as it should.
@mikehart7615Күн бұрын
They also if you can find old stock make a conversion kit that sits up on top of the deck for aluminum boats they stopped selling it a few years back, but they’re still out there
@TackleJunky81Күн бұрын
@mikehart7615 I'll have to look into those. Appreciate you watching brother! 👊💪

I did consider a spacer, but either way I'd still be short space on the side and to get that space I'd have to cut into the beam.
@mikehart7615Күн бұрын
@ even if you run a flat piece of stock from beam to beam and put the unit below mounted onto the flat stock with the strap running up the gap between the beams
@TackleJunky81Күн бұрын
@mikehart7615 it's a beam on 1 side and a wall on the other and on that other side with the offset of the strap I'd need to move it towards the beam side. Even if the housing is moved over under the beam I'd still have to cut into the beam for the top piece to drop down into it.

Is there a chance that a grinder or dremel tool could trim the plastic lip very slightly without damaging screw holes so it would fit?
@TackleJunky81Күн бұрын
I'd say yes, there's enough room to trim the plastic to get it to fit, but I still wouldn't have enough room to adjust it to get both straps to line up.
@benniebailey727923 сағат бұрын
@TackleJunky81 I'm with you, with my OCD, it would bother me if the straps didn't line up.

It's a oscillating saw, or as my dad calls it "the wah wah" saw because of the sound it makes when you cut trim or door jams 😂.

I put buckles on my tracker back in the day and I ended up sawzawing through a aluminium support oops😞
