Nice method for float making Den. A few years ago I designed some floats and 3D printed, then painted. Using tree support for ease of removal.

Great work Den , I think you need to make some tapered ones with a shoulder before the tip for your lovely bit of river you fish . Can hold them back without them riding up to much in the water .

The ones with shoulders are my go to floats for rivers down here mate. I just wanted to revisit my past for a few hours.😁👍

Excellent I'll be using your design for fineness fishing for garfish in south Australia.

Designed by Benny Ashurst for fishing the far side of the canal in Leigh. Look in Match fishing with Benny Ashurst , peter collins 1966/1967

That's right. I remember. I think I probably saw it in the Angling Times at some point. I would have been around 12 or 13 at the time. Great Angler. Kevin too.

Hi Den, I make a lot of my own floats by "Stripping Out", Company Logo Clicker Pens, sawing off bits I can't use (like the pocket clip etc) and Bamboo skewers for the Sight Tip and the Stem. I also, sometimes Load the stem using Drilled, Air Rifle Pellets.

It is really satisfying to know that you are catching fish on tackle you make yourself, isn't it.

Thanks Den I'm off to find a supply of those plastic paint brushes

Just painting some tips myself den on some very small wagglers for a small river I fish in the uk ( North Yorkshire) as I’m listening to your video den 👍👍 Gud video as ever and I even picked a pro tip up off you ie your drilling jig 👍👍👍( I’ll be making one at the weekend)
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
Thanks Darren. These jigs make hole drilling really simple, but you do need to make them exactly as shown. Otherwise, the holes will be slightly off centre.

It’s mad how something so simple can be so easily missed Den 👍👍

Nice precise work Den, love your neat tidy shed/workshop... great floats too, very rewarding catching fish on your own home made tackle, keep up the good work 👍

@@dougpetty6854 Thanks Doug. It's a pity you and Frank live so far away from me, otherwise, it would be great to have a days fishing with you.

My sentiments exactly Den, if you ever come down to South Australia we would be delighted for you to be our guest and if the occasion were in reverse we would love to look you up too 👍
@martijnfransen9933Ай бұрын
Thanks Den 👍🏻 will you also make a little connector to connect it to the line? Or will you use small rubber bands?
@FishingwithDenАй бұрын
Hi Martijn. These floats are held on by 2 small thin bands and a longer length of silicone for the base.

Well done. Those cheap brushes are terrible I bought a pack for my little projects? Great for the first rough coat but need better brushes for finish. How do you calculate the weight of the brush base to the balsa top to make sure they do not sink. Is there a buoyance formula?
@FishingwithDen26 күн бұрын
Sorry for the delay Phill. I just saw this one. I just work on approximately one third for the balsa and two thirds for the stem. I probably just got lucky with the dimensions being correct on the first go.
