Probably the best upgrade I have done on my pro qualifier, 8 years strong and keeps going. I use it every time I go fishing. Best investment!

Totally agree, there is not a better reel in that price range!

Yes it does...and I would TOTALLY recommend that reel -I have 5 of em and love em!! It should easily be a $200 reel....so it's a steal at $100 regular price. Thanks for watchin!!

I wouldn't recommend throwing really light lures, the spool will definitely be spinning faster than with your stock bearings and you're going to want to make sure you have enough weight on the end of your line or you could end up with a pretty bad backlash. If you're going to throw lighter stuff, definitely use lighter line and don't overcast the lure. Yeah, the reels are amazing, with or without the bearings. Hope that helps you out.

The main reason for changing out the bearings is that they provide a longer, smoother cast. The maintenance on Boca Bearings are a little different than stock bearings. There really is no draw back to stock bearings. I don't plan on changing all of mine and I mainly wanted to see what the difference was. I do notice a difference with my reels that have the Boca bearings than those that don't as the spool spins so freely. Hope that helped you out bud and thanks for watchin!!

I agree they are loud, but I don't have the experience with these bearings to give you the correct answer. I have heard that if you're going to put oil then use the Boca Bearing Oil, but then again I've heard they're meant to be dry -I've been using them dry since I've installed them. This may be a question you might want to ask Boca. Thanks for watchin bud and sorry I couldn't help you out!!

If your reel is not picking up line fast enough, it wouldn't be the bearings. You're comparing two different reels, and even though they're both 7:0:1, the gears are probably different sizes. Check your specs, that may seem why ones' pulling faster than the other. Nothings wrong, it's just the gearing of the different reels. The 7:0:1 means the spool will turn 7 times in one rotation of the handle. Hope that helps you out bud!!

I really don't know bud, but there's specific kits on Boca and if you don't see your specific reel then you have to measure your bearings and request them from them. Good luck bud and thanks for watchin!!

For sure dude!!

You have to measure them if they don't have your specific reel listed on line. That's what I had to do. Thanks for watchin bud!!

Great video! Can you tell me what's the difference between the orange seals for $46 and the other ones that are $27? I'm sure there is a performance difference, but not sure.

I have the new(er) version of the BPS tourney special 7:0:1 (black casing with silver: great pricing of ~$50) which doesn't seem as quick of line pick up such as the smoke reel 7:0:1 that I have...so I'm guessing it's the quality of the ball bearings that are in the reel.... I've used reel oil on the necessary reel parts and grease the necessary parts and still is not picking up line quickly as I'd hoped...so do I need to change the ball bearings in the reel?

You can look on the Boca site to see if they are listed and if not you will need to measure them.

Great and informative videos. Looking forward to seeing much more videos. Very helpful. Thanks. I have 2 left handed pro qualifiers PQX10SLD. 5:1 PQX10SHLA 7:1 I can't find boca bearings for these models. Do you know which boca bearings kit would work for these

Which reel would you prefer? Pro qualifier, jonny morris, or diawa tatula. Thanks. Wanting to buy another reel. I own 4 pro qualifiers now and will use your vids to upgrade some bearings for sure!
@TackleJunky8110 жыл бұрын
For $100 it's hard to beat the Pro Qualifier. If you are wanting to spend the extra $60 the Morris is one GREAT reel. It's actually a $260 reel, but when the economy crashed Johnny Morris lowered the price by $100. I've never used the Diawa so I can't comment on them, I'm a BPS guy for my baitcasters and I don't plan on switchin. In my opinion for the money, they can't be beat and I've gotten to know how they perform and what they will and not do. Thanks for watching!!

TackleJunky81 so have ya changed your answer nowadays?
@arciefan10 жыл бұрын
First of all, great video and ty for that. Question: Can it make the spool so much more smoother, that now you have to apply more braking to control backlashes or am I thinking wrong here? Just seems to me, that there is a finite amount of distance you could ever make casting while being able to control it from the smoothness of the spool.
@TackleJunky8110 жыл бұрын
The spool definitely spins faster. With heavier lures there is no issues. The bearings help cast lighter lures easier, but you need to have the right line size and rod as well. Example, a heavy power rod with 20lb line is not gonna cast a light lure well. The bearings will be spinning to fast and the lighter lure will not be able to pull the line out fast enough. If you have the right set up you will not have any issues. Hope that helps out. Thanks for watching.

I was wondering if you had a place to order replacement parts for a Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier bait cast reel? I lost the spool tension cap off one of my reels and when I contacted BPS they said they don't sell replacement parts.
@TackleJunky818 жыл бұрын
Their parts place is right next to them in Springfield, MO and is called Outdoor World Rod and Reel Repair.

Nice video. I just ordered bearings for one of my Pro Qualifiers and for a Pflueger Patriarch. I'm wondering what your opinion is on a drop of oil on the Boca bearings to quiet them down. I know it's not necessary for ceramic bearings and there seams to be mixed opinions on lubing them.

A few questions. Does the PQ have a clicking star drag? And would you recommend the reel?

Would this be the same boca kit for the Browning Medallion GT 6:4:1 #MD10HFD? From what I've heard they are basically the same reel as they are made by Bass Pro. Thanks, Chris.
